6 ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR WALL CHASER
▪ Working safety with this machine is possible only after the operating manual and safety
instructions have been read completely and the instructions contained therein are strictly
followed.
▪ The machine is for hand-held use and is not intended for stationary use. Do not fix in a
vice or a similar clamping device.
▪ Switch the machine off and allow the machine to come to a complete stop before putting
the machine down.
▪ Do not cut chases in materials which contain asbestos.
▪ Use only diamond cutting discs suitable for dry cutting, cutting discs must have a
maximum permitted no-load speed at least equal to the machine’s maximum no-load
speed. Do not use the diamond discs with a diameter greater than 150mm, Use only
diamond cutting discs with a 22.2mm bore. Reduce rings or adapters may not be used.
▪ The diamond cutting discs must be undamaged and correctly mounted.
▪ Always run the machine at no load for at least 30 seconds before starting work. Damaged,
out-or-round or vibrating diamond cutting discs may not be used.
▪ Protect the diamond cutting disc from impact, shock and grease.
▪ The machine can kick back and/or the diamond cutting disc can break if the diamond
cutting disc jams in the cut. Switch the machine off immediately if the diamond cutting
discs jams in the cut.
▪ Hold the machine with both hands and maintain a stable posture when working with the
machine.
▪ Always lead the cable away to the rear of the machine.
▪ Ensure the machine is switched off before connecting the machine to the mains.
▪ Switch the machine on and allow the machine to reach full speed before starting the
cutting.
▪ Never touch rotating diamond cutting discs.
▪ Observe the direction of rotation, hold the machine so that spark and/or dust fly away form
your body. Sparks can also cause hidden fires.
▪ Exercise caution when cutting chased in supporting walls. Consult the engineer if
necessary.
▪ Ensure there are no hidden cables, cable conduits, water pipes or gas pipes beneath the
surface of the wall you wish to cut.
▪ Contact with live cables is potentially deadly and can lead to fire.
▪ Damage to water pipes can lead to property damage or to electric shock.
▪ Use cable or pipe detector to locate hidden pipes or cables or consult the engineer.
▪ Do not cut walls clad with wood or insulation material, the high levels of heat produced by
the diamond cutting discs may lead to fire.
▪ Use the machine only at a safe distance from any inflammable materials in the area.
▪ Bear in mind that flying sparks produced while working can cause fires.
Warning: The diamond cutting discs continue to rotate after the machine
has been switched off, never stop the diamond cutting discs by applying
lateral pressure.
▪ The machine may only be operated when connected to a suitable vacuum device, the
vacuum device must be fitted with a filter for masonry dust and be approved for work with
masonry dust.
▪ A dust mask approved for masonry dust must be worn.
