How to troubleshoot a Powersmart Portable Generator that will not start?

  If your Powersmart Portable Generator engine won't start, possible causes include: * The engine switch is set to "OFF". If this is the case, set the engine switch to "ON". * The fuel valve is turned to "OFF". Turn the fuel valve to the "ON" position. * The choke is open, so close the choke. * The engine is out of gas, add gasoline. * The engine is filled with contaminated or old gas, change the gas in the tank and drain the gas in the carburetor. * The spark plug is dirty, clean it. * The spark plug is broken, replace it. * The generator is not on a level surface, move it to a level surface. * The oil is low, add or replace the oil. * The air cleaner is dirty, clean or replace the air cleaner element.

  If your Powersmart Portable Generator runs but doesn’t support all connected electrical devices, it might be overloaded. To resolve this: 1. Turn off all electrical devices. 2. Unplug all electrical devices. 3. Turn off the generator. 4. Wait several minutes. 5. Restart the generator. 6. Try connecting fewer electrical loads to the generator. Another possible cause is a short in one of the connected devices; try disconnecting any faulty or short-circuited electrical loads. Also, a dirty air cleaner can cause this issue, so clean or replace the air cleaner.
