Overview

This document serves as the owner's manual for the Jazzy Carbon power wheelchair, a Class II medical device designed for individuals with disabilities. It integrates advanced technology with a modern style, emphasizing quick disassembly and assembly for convenient storage and transport.

Function Description:

The Jazzy Carbon power wheelchair is primarily designed for outdoor use on flat paths near buildings, and for indoor use. It is not intended for use on grass, gravel roads, large slopes, motorways, or in rain or snow. The wheelchair is suitable for one person only, with a maximum load capacity of 136 kg (300 lbs). It should not be used for other purposes such as weight training, sports, athletics, traction, moving, or dragging, as this may cause safety hazards and excessive stress. The device is controlled via a joystick, which integrates all electric components, including the power switch, battery indicator, speed indicator, speed down button, speed up button, joystick lever, and horn button. The joystick allows for control of direction and speed, with the wheelchair moving faster as the joystick is pushed further from its central position. When released, the joystick automatically resets and brakes. The armrests can be flipped up for easier access, and the anti-tipper mechanism can be adjusted for stability on slopes or flat surfaces. The wheelchair can be folded for storage or transport by pulling up a latch at the rear and flipping up the seat cushion.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly/Folding: The wheelchair unfolds by pulling the footrest forward and then pulling the backrest and seat forward and backward until a "click" indicates the latch is secured. For folding, a latch at the rear of the body is pulled up, and the seat cushion is flipped up.
  • Joystick Adjustment: The joystick's position can be adjusted for user comfort by loosening a knob on the armrest, stretching the joystick, and then tightening the knob.
  • Brake Lever: Each motor has a brake lever. Pushing the lever to position A engages electric mode (power operated), while pushing it to position B engages manual mode (hand-pushed).
  • Anti-tipper Adjustment: The anti-tipper is a safety device to prevent overturning. It can be retracted for indoor flat surfaces or extended to the outermost gear for slopes by pressing a latch.
  • Armrest Adjustment: Armrests can be flipped up by pressing a lock button for easier transfers.
  • Power On/Off: The power switch (1) supplies power to the control system. Pressing it turns on the power and illuminates the power indicator light (2) and speed indicator light (3). Pressing it again turns off the power.
  • Speed Control: The speed down button (4) decreases the maximum driving speed, while the speed up button (5) increases it. The number of displayed bars on the speed indicator (3) represents the current maximum speed.
  • Battery Indicator: The battery indicator (2) displays the battery storage. All bars lit indicate sufficient power; 3-4 bars indicate power is okay; less than 2 bars indicate low power and the need for charging.
  • Charging: The wheelchair can be charged using an off-board charger connected to a 3-hole socket on the battery pack or directly to the controller. The red light on the charger indicates charging in progress, and green indicates a full charge. It is recommended to charge for 6-8 hours. New batteries should be fully charged prior to initial use and will reach peak performance after 4-5 charging cycles. The battery can also be removed from the wheelchair for charging.
  • Safety Belt: A safety belt is provided and should be fastened whenever seated in the wheelchair.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Checks: Weekly, monthly, and semi-annual checks are recommended to keep the wheelchair in good condition.
    • Each Use: Check turning, driving, setting, dismantlement, etc.
    • Weekly: Check brakes, connecting lines, battery condition, tire condition, motor, and devices.
    • Monthly: Check cleanliness.
    • Semi-annually: Check tire condition and motor.
  • Electrical Components: Always check for corrosion, looseness, wear, or damage on electrical components, brakes, wiring harnesses, and terminal posts. Contact a service provider if damage is found.
  • Battery Care: Use batteries authorized by the company. Do not mix new and used batteries, or batteries of different types, chemical substances, or capacities. Protect the battery from freezing and do not charge a frozen battery.
  • Charger Care: Keep charger connector terminals clean and dry. Inspect the charger, wiring, and connectors for damage before each use. Do not open the charger case. Avoid inserting objects into cooling slots. The charger case may become hot during charging.
  • Environmental Protection: Avoid prolonged exposure to excessively hot, cold, or moist environments. Keep the controller clean. Store the wheelchair in a clean indoor environment with relative humidity ≤80%, good ventilation, and free from corrosive gas. Remove the battery before storage to prevent rust and damage to electronics.
  • Spare Parts: If any consumable parts (battery, wheels, joystick, motor/actuator, charger) need replacement, contact the company or dealer for original parts of the same model and specification.
  • Controller Settings: Do not change controller settings. Have a service provider check settings every 6-12 months.
  • Safety Equipment: Use reflectors, reflective clothing, lights, and safety signs, especially as the wheelchair may be difficult for others to see.
