The FogMist™ Track is a produce canopy installation designed to maintain the freshness of produce through a misting system. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the system.
Function Description:
The FogMist™ Track system is designed to create a controlled misting environment over produce canopies, helping to preserve the freshness and appearance of fruits and vegetables. It achieves this by atomizing water into a fine mist, which humidifies the air around the produce. The system integrates a water supply, an air compressor, a timer-controlled solenoid box, and a network of tubing and nozzles to deliver the mist. The mist control, air compressor, and timer box are typically mounted at the center of the misted area, on top of the display case, though other mounting locations are possible. The system utilizes quick-connect fittings for easy assembly and disassembly, and it is designed for installation within the case ceiling, preferably inside the air curtain, to optimize mist distribution and minimize interference with store operations.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Water Supply: Requires a 1/2-inch female NPT adapter with a ball valve and a minimum inlet pressure of 30 PSI. The water supply connection should be easily accessible under the display case.
- Power Outlet: A 4-plug power outlet (110/220VAC, 60/50Hz, 20Amp) is required, also easily accessible under the display case.
- Floor Drain: A minimum 3/4-inch drain for waste water or a 1/2-inch drain pipe is necessary, accessible under the display case.
- Tubing: The system uses 3/8-inch and 3/4-inch tubing for water and air lines, along with 1/2-inch x 6-inch protective corrugated tubing.
- Air Compressor: The HCOM001-2HD-FOG air compressor kit is specified for small systems, featuring a double-head 110VAC compressor.
- Pressure Settings: The solenoid box gauge is factory set to 30 PSI for water pressure. Air pressure should be maintained between 15-20 PSI, not exceeding 20 PSI.
- Filter: Includes a Phosphate Filter (5mic) (2FIL-EC-S10-2038-P) and an inline mesh filter in the solenoid box.
- Timer Settings:
- ON Time: Adjustable from 0.5 to 2.5 minutes, controlling the duration of each fog cycle.
- OFF Time: Adjustable from 1 to 15 minutes, controlling the duration between fog cycles.
- Factory presets are recommended for optimal performance.
Usage Features:
- Easy Assembly: Quick Connect Fittings facilitate straightforward installation and maintenance. The manual provides clear steps for preparing connections, assembling fittings, and verifying connections.
- Adjustable Settings: Water pressure can be adjusted by rotating a black knob within the solenoid box, allowing users to increase or decrease fog density. Air pressure on the compressor is also adjustable with an allen wrench.
- Timer Control: The system features a timer box (HTIM001-110-CLDUL) for precise control over misting cycles, allowing users to set both ON and OFF times to suit specific produce requirements.
- Modular Design: The FogMist™ Track system is comprised of several components, including a timer box, solenoid box, FogMist™ Track, FogMist™ Track Cover, FogMist™ Clamp Lock, phosphate filter, various tubing sizes, zip-ties, clips, stainless steel screws, splitter connections, and male connectors, all designed to integrate seamlessly.
- Safety Features: Instructions emphasize safety precautions such as not inserting fingers into fittings due to stainless steel teeth, ensuring burrs and sharp edges are removed to prevent O-ring damage, and depressurizing the system before removing fittings.
- Installation Flexibility: While the control box, air compressor, and timer box are typically mounted at the center of the misted area on top of the case, other mounting locations can be used. The clamp lock can be mounted inside or outside the air curtain.
Maintenance Features:
- Flushing: It is crucial to flush the city water line for 3-4 minutes before connecting to the system's water line. After any repairs or changes, the lines should be flushed to ensure no particles, liquid Teflon, Teflon tape, pipe dope, or other foreign matter is present. The inline filter should also be flushed into the drain for 2 minutes during installation.
- Filter Maintenance:
- Phosphate Inline Filter: Recommended change schedule is quarterly for water quality >100 PPM coming into the solenoid box, or as needed (monthly) for water quality 100 PPM.
- Inline Mesh Filter (in solenoid box): This filter can be cleaned by unscrewing the cover, removing the mesh screen, washing it with a mild cleaner, scrubbing with a soft brush if necessary, and then reinstalling and securely tightening the cover. Replacement is only needed if damaged or too clogged to clean.
- Leak Detection: The start-up procedures include steps to check for leaks and ensure a proper mist pattern, with a recommendation to consult a Troubleshooting Guide if nozzles are not spraying correctly.
- Component Replacement: The manual lists various components with their part numbers, facilitating easy identification and replacement of parts like tubing, fittings, and screws.
- Warranty: Prodew, Inc. offers a limited warranty for perishable control equipment and component parts, covering defects in materials and service for 365 days from the invoice date for parts (excluding nozzles) and 90 days for labor. This warranty emphasizes replacement or repair of defective material F.O.B. factory. It also states that pretreatment may adversely affect performance and Prodew takes no responsibility for damage from unapproved pretreatment equipment or inappropriate maintenance.
