PET OWNERS WARNING: The health of some small pets
including birds are extremely sensitive to the fumes produced during
the first-time use of many appliances. These fumes are not harmful to
humans but we recommended that you do not use your heater around
birds and small pets during its initial use until the manufacturing
corrosion coatings burn off.

Overview

This document is an instruction manual for the PROFUSION H.E.A.T. Heavy Electric Utility Heater, Model: HA24-75M.

Function Description:

The PROFUSION HA24-75M is an electric utility heater designed to provide heating for various indoor locations. It offers both horizontal and vertical airflow, with a built-in thermostat and an overheating safety thermal cutout for enhanced safety. The heater is designed for hardwire installation and can be configured for different heat outputs by switching internal wires. It is compatible with a 240V Line Voltage Double Pole Wall Thermostat for external temperature control.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: HA24-75M
  • Heat Output: Up to 25,589 BTU per hour (7500W setting)
  • Voltage: 240V
  • Power Ratings:
    • 7500W: 31.3 Amps, 25,589 BTU/hour
    • 5000W: 20.9 Amps, 17,065 BTU/hour
  • Minimum Wire Size: #8 (75°C Copper)
  • Maximum Fuse Size: 45 Amps
  • Mounting: Ceiling or wall mounting (optional).
  • Minimum Clearance to Wall: 13 inches (front view), 7 3/8 inches (side view).
  • Minimum Clearance from Discharge to Any Object: 24 inches.
  • Minimum Distance to Floor: 8 feet.
  • Maximum Mounting Height:
    • Vertical air delivery unit: 11 ft.
    • Horizontal air delivery unit: 8 ft.
  • Wiring: Requires hard wire installation by a Certified Electrician, adhering to all local and national electrical codes. Use only copper wires rated for at least 60°C.
  • External Thermostat: Compatible with UL or ETL standard external thermostats. Lead wire for external thermostat should not be less than 16AWG.

Usage Features:

  • Thermostat Control: The heater features a built-in thermostat. To operate, rotate the thermostat knob clockwise to the high position. Once the desired room temperature is reached, rotate the knob counter-clockwise until the thermostat turns off. The heater will cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature.
  • Selection Switch: A selection switch allows users to choose between two heat output settings: "I" for 5000W and "II" for 7500W.
  • External Temperature Control Mode: The heater can be switched to an external temperature control mode, allowing it to be controlled by an external thermostat. This requires setting the heater's External temperature control switch to the appropriate mode and wiring the external thermostat according to the provided diagrams.
  • Adjustable Airflow: The unit can be rotated for horizontal adjustment (when installed with a single lag bolt). Louvers are adjustable to direct airflow to the desired position. Note that louvers cannot be completely closed to prevent damage.
  • Vertical Tilt: The heater can be tilted vertically by loosening bracket screws and positioning it in the bottom keyhole slots of the mounting brackets. This ensures adequate clearance and prevents overheating.
  • Indicators: Includes a yellow POWER INDICATOR and a red CAUTION INDICATOR. The CAUTION INDICATOR illuminates if parts of the heater become excessively hot, signaling the need to turn off the heater and inspect for blocked airflow.

Maintenance Features:

  • Safety Disconnect: To prevent electric shock during maintenance or adjustment, power to the heater must be disconnected at the main service box.
  • Inspection: If the heater malfunctions or the CAUTION INDICATOR illuminates, disconnect power at the service panel and have the heater inspected by a reputable electrician before reuse.
  • Heating Element Protection: When starting the heater, turning the temperature control clockwise slowly to the terminal initiates the fan first, followed by the heating element. When closing the heater, turning the temperature control anticlockwise slowly to off closes the heating element first, then the fan. This sequence helps protect the heating element.
  • Cleaning: All electrical power must be disconnected and the main service box locked before inspecting, cleaning, or servicing the heater to prevent serious electric shock.

Important Safety Warnings:

  • Grounding: The appliance must be grounded.
  • Combustible Materials: Keep combustible materials (furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, curtains, etc.) at least 3 feet (0.9 m) from the front, sides, and rear of the heater.
  • Children and Invalids: Extreme caution is necessary when the heater is used by or near children or invalids, or when left operating unattended.
  • Outdoor Use: Not for outdoor use.
  • Wet Locations: Not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas, or similar indoor locations where it could fall into water.
  • Hazardous Locations: Not suitable for use in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored due to hot and arcing/sparking parts inside.
  • Corrosive Atmospheres: Not suitable for use in corrosive atmospheres such as marine, greenhouses, or chemical storage areas.
  • Airflow Obstruction: Do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces where openings may become blocked.
  • Foreign Objects: Do not insert or allow foreign objects into any ventilation or exhaust opening.
  • First-Time Use Fumes: Some small pets, especially birds, are sensitive to fumes produced during the initial use of many appliances as manufacturing corrosion coatings burn off. It is recommended not to use the heater around birds and small pets during its initial use.
  • Installation: Improper installation or failure to follow instructions can result in serious electrical shock. Installation must be carried out by a Certified Electrician.
  • Overheating Alarm: If the visual alarm illuminates, immediately turn off the heater and inspect for blocked airflow or other causes of high temperatures. Do not operate the heater with the alarm illuminating.
