Overview

This document is the owner's manual for the Profusion Heat 5,000W/240V Wall/Ceiling Mounted Garage Heater with Electronic Controller and Remote, Model PH-950NR.

Function Description:

The Profusion Heat PH-950NR is a powerful electric heater designed for use in garages, capable of being mounted on either a wall or ceiling. It provides supplemental heating with an electronic controller and a remote for convenient operation. The heater is equipped with a visual alarm to indicate excessive heat, a thermal cut-off protection, and a timer function. It can be controlled by an internal thermostat or an optional external wall thermostat.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: PH-950NR
  • Voltage: 240 V
  • Watts: 5000 W (also supports 2500W operation, as indicated in the wiring diagram)
  • Frequency: 60 Hz
  • Recommended Heating Capacity: 1.25 watts / ft³ (0.03m³)
  • Power Supply Cables: 10 AWG (5.3 mm²) copper wires
  • Circuit Breaker: Individual branch circuit protected by a 30 Amp circuit breaker (dual pole, 240V 30A/pole as main cutoff switch)
  • Mounting: Wall or ceiling mounted
  • Minimum Installation Heights/Distances:
    • At least 6 feet (1.8m) high from the floor.
    • No closer than 1 foot (0.3 m) to any adjacent vertical surfaces or walls.
    • At least 4.5 inches (11.5 cm) from the back wall (with or without the wall hanging mounting bracket).
    • Combustible materials (furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, curtains) must be at least 3 feet (0.9 m) from the front of the heater and kept away from the sides and rear.

Usage Features:

  • Control Panel: Located on the unit, featuring a POWER LED, TIMER LED, LOW LED, HIGH LED, and an Alarm LED. It also includes an ON/OFF switch and a switch for selecting between "Inside Thermostat" and "Wall Thermostat" control.
  • Remote Control: Allows for convenient operation, including setting the temperature and timer. Batteries (AAA) are required for the remote.
  • Temperature Setting: The desired temperature can be set using the "+" and "-" buttons on the remote. The factory setting temperature is 70°F. When using the internal thermostat, the heater operates in HIGH or LOW heating mode based on the room temperature relative to the set temperature (e.g., turns on if room temperature is ≤ setting - 2°F, turns off if room temperature is ≥ setting + 2°F).
  • Heating Modes: The heater can operate in HIGH or LOW heating modes, selectable via the MODE button on the remote.
  • Timer Function: A timer can be set from 1 to 12 hours using the TIMER button and "+"/"-" buttons on the remote. The heater will automatically shut off when the set time is reached. The timer can be turned off by setting it to 0 hours.
  • Thermostat Options: The heater can be controlled by its internal thermostat or an optional 240V Line Voltage Double Pole Wall Thermostat (not included). A rock switch on the unit allows selection between these two options. If using a wall thermostat, the heater's temperature setting buttons are disabled, and heating is controlled by the external thermostat.
  • Adjustable Tilt: The unit features a tilt adjustable knob (B) and louvers for air direction (D) to direct heat where needed.
  • Safety Features:
    • Visual Alarm: A flashing alarm indicates that parts of the heater are getting excessively hot. If this occurs, the heater must be turned OFF immediately, and the cause (e.g., blocked airflow) inspected. The heater should not be operated with the alarm flashing.
    • Thermal Cut-Off Protection: If the heater overheats, the thermal cut-off protection will trip, requiring the power to be switched off at the circuit breaker. The unit should reset automatically after 10 minutes of cooling. If it trips again, a certified electrician should be consulted.
    • Circuit Breaker as ON/OFF Device: The main power ON/OFF for the heater is the circuit breaker, which must be installed by a certified electrician and located within line of sight or capable of being locked in an open position.
    • Pet Owners Warning: During initial use, a trace of smoke or odor may be produced as manufacturing corrosion coatings burn off. This is not harmful to humans but can be sensitive to small pets, especially birds. It is recommended not to use the heater around such pets during its initial operation in a well-ventilated room.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Cleaning:
    • Before cleaning, disconnect power at the source by switching off the circuit breaker and wait 60 minutes for the heating element to cool down.
    • Do not use cleaning liquid or other chemicals directly on the unit.
    • Interior dust can be removed using a vacuum cleaner with a crevice tool attachment.
    • To clean the enclosure, use a clean, soft, lightly damp cloth to wipe off dirt. Avoid wetting the heating element and switches. Allow the unit to dry completely before use.
    • CAUTION: Do not allow water to run into the interior of the heater to prevent fire, electric shock, or damage.
  • No User Serviceable Parts: Other than regular cleaning, all other servicing or maintenance should be performed by qualified service personnel. Users should not attempt to open or repair the heater themselves to avoid damage or personal injury.
  • Remote Control Battery Care: Remove batteries from the remote if it will not be used for a month or more to prevent leakage and damage. Do not mix old and new batteries, or alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.

Warranty Information:

The product comes with a one (1) year warranty against defects in workmanship and materials. Profusion Heat will replace a defective product within the warranty period upon return with proof of purchase. The warranty does not cover wear or breakage due to misuse and/or abuse.
