Why does the PT W41035 Lifting Systems pump feel spongy?

If the PT Lifting Systems pump feels spongy, it could be due to several reasons: 1. The power unit might be low on fluid. To resolve this, ensure the jack is on a level surface and in the down position. Remove the filler plug and add clean hydraulic jack fluid until it reaches the level of the filler hole. 2. The power unit may be airbound. To fix this, depress the release valve and pump the handle at least 20 full strokes to purge the air from the system. 3. The valves may not be closing completely. To seat the valves: * Close the release valve. * With the jack fully lowered, manually raise the ram/extension as high as possible. * Open the release valve and allow the jack to descend to the lowered position.
