Overview

The Qpets AF-200 is a large capacity automatic pet feeder designed to make pet ownership more convenient by automating meal times. It is intended for indoor use with dry dog or cat food only, specifically recommending food with a diameter of 0.5 inches or smaller. The feeder is not suitable for puppies or kittens less than 7 months old, or those unable to reach the feeding dish. It should not be used with canned, moist, semi-moist food, or treats.

Function Description:

The primary function of the AF-200 is to dispense pre-portioned meals to pets at scheduled times. It can be programmed to serve up to four different sized meals per 24 hours. Each meal serving is adjustable in 1/4 cup increments, with a maximum of 5 cups per complete revolution of the dispensing mechanism. The feeder has a large capacity, capable of holding up to 10 lbs of dry food. A customized voice message can be recorded and played at meal times to call pets to eat. The device also features a manual feeding option for immediate dispensing.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Food Type: Dry dog or cat food only (0.5" or smaller diameter recommended).
  • Food Capacity: Up to 10 lbs.
  • Meal Programming: Up to four meals per 24 hours.
  • Serving Size: Adjustable in 1/4 cup increments, from 1/4 cup to 5 cups per meal.
  • Power Source: Requires FOUR "D" size alkaline batteries (not included). Estimated battery life is 6 months or less. A DC Power Converter is available as an accessory.
  • Dimensions (assembled): 15"L x 9"W x 17"H.
  • Weight (assembled without batteries and food): 3.5 lbs.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The feeder consists of a base, hopper, lid, nozzle cap, and bowl. Assembly involves aligning and inserting the hopper into the base, twisting to lock; placing and twisting the lid onto the hopper; inserting the nozzle cap; and finally, inserting the bowl into the base by connecting its hooks.
  • Battery Installation: Batteries are installed by turning the base upside down, removing the battery cover, inserting four new "D" size alkaline batteries (matching positive and negative markings), and replacing the cover.
  • Power On/Off: The unit is turned on by pressing the (-) side of the on/off switch located on the bottom of the base.
  • Operating Modes: The feeder can operate in "Running Mode" (dispensing according to schedule) or "Sleep Mode" (not operating). This is selected using the "Select" button and confirmed with "Save".
  • Time Setting: Current time (hours and minutes) is set using the "Select", "Up", and "Down" buttons, then saved.
  • Days Served Programming: The feeder can be programmed to dispense "Every Day" or for a specific number of days (1-99). This is set via the "Select", "Up/Down", and "Save" buttons.
  • Meal Time and Portion Programming: Meal times are set in half-hour increments, and portions are set in 1/4 cup increments up to 5 cups. The "Select", "Up/Down", and "Save" buttons are used for this. The LCD screen displays the current settings, with flashing indicators guiding the user through the programming process.

  • Low Battery Indicator: The device includes a low battery indicator to alert users when batteries need replacement, ensuring continuous operation.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The bowl is top-rack dishwasher safe and can be removed by lifting it up and pulling it horizontally from the base. The lid and hopper can also be removed for cleaning and should be hand-cleaned with a soft cloth and hand-dried.
  • Restrictions: The base unit should never be submerged in water, as this will damage electronic components and void the warranty. The base, hopper, or lid should not be placed in an automatic dishwasher. All parts must be completely dry before adding new food.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • "ERROR" showing: Indicates a blockage in the dispensing part. To resolve, turn off power, remove the hopper, investigate for food or debris blocking the spiral gear, dislodge the jam, re-assemble, and turn the unit back on.
    • "Low Battery" indicator lit: Turn off the unit, replace batteries, turn the unit back on, and ensure the current time is correct.

Warranty and Support:

The product comes with a 1-year limited manufacturer warranty against defects in material and workmanship for the original buyer. A dated sales receipt is required as proof of purchase. The warranty covers replacement of defective parts and labor but does not cover damages from abuse, failure to perform normal maintenance, or unreasonable use.
