CASTLE NUTS AND COTTER PINS
WARNING: ANY BOLT ON THE AIRCRAFT WHICH IS SUBJECT TO ROTATION USE MUST
USE A 'CASTLE NUT'. A CASTLE NUT RELIES ON A COTTER PIN TO KEEP IT FROM
BACKING OFF. ENSURE ALL CASTLE NUTS ARE SECURED WITH COTTER PINS!
ALL COTTER PINS MUST BE BENT CORRECTLY.

THREAD ADHESIVE
Thread adhesive (Loctite 290 ) may be supplied with the kit and is required on ALL threaded
fixtures (bolts, push/pull control cable, rod end bearings etc.) WITHOUT self-locking mechanisms.
Examples of locking mechanisms are: Locknuts or Castle Nuts secured with a cotter pin or safety
wire. ALL JAM NUTS REQUIRE THREAD ADHESIVE
ONE or TWO drop of thread adhesive located on the threaded portion of a bolt is typically sufficient
when applying during construction.
IMPORTANT: When using with push/pull control cables or other threaded fittings, ensure the
thread adhesive is applied to an area where it will make contact with the nut in its
locked position.
