6.2.8 Enhanced Telephone Interface Features
The Enhanced Telephone Interface features give the user additional power to
solve unusual telephone system interface problems and to provide more reliable
and efficient notification of alarms.
The Enhanced Telephone Interface Features include the following functions:
u 60 Digit Phone Numbers
l For all 16 telephone numbers and the call-back number.
u Telephone Line Fault Detection (Phone Fault)
l Tests phone line at regular programmed interval
l Flashes TFAIL LED on dialer front panel upon failure
l Logs Phone Faults and phone line restoration to Local Printer
u Automatic Selection of Tone versus Pulse Dialing
l Tests for tone capability upon first power up without user
intervention
l May be overridden for PBXs with “non-standard” dialtones
u Call Progress Monitoring (CPM)
l Detects busy and ringing signals
l Waits until phone is answered to annunciate voice reports
l Abandons call if busy or no answer and quickly tries next number
u Numeric Pager Support
l Designate Pager only numbers - no voice annunciation
l Insert pager system terminator characters such as ‘#’ or ‘*’
l Insert DTMF A, B, C & D tones in phone number strings for
unique IDs
u PBX Support
l Ignore “non-standard” PBX dialtones
l Insert “wait for outside line” dialtone into phone number strings
The Enhanced Telephone Interface Features are included on Verbatims with a
mainboard Revision of VMP-5a and above and firmware revisions 2.09 and
above ONLY.
Contact your RACO Representative about upgrading if the Enchanced
Telephone Interface is required.
