CARING
FOR
THE
METER
Your
meter
is
a
precision
electronic
device.
To
avoid
damage
to
the meter:
o
Do
not
touch
any
of the
circuitry
inside
the
case.
o
Do
not
expgse
it
to temperatures
below
-
4"F
(-
20.C)
or
above
140'F (60"C).
o
Protect
it
from
extremely
humid
areas.
o
Never
connect
it
to more
than
1000
volts
DC
or 750
volts
AC.
o
Never
connect
it
to
a source
of voltage
when you
have
set
the meter
to
the
ohms,
continuity,
or
diode
cheik
funAion.
o
Operate
it
only
when
the
battery
cover
is in
place
and
fully
closed.
o
Remove
the
test leads
and
turn
off
the
power
before
you
re_
place
the
battery
or fuse.
Your
meter
comes
fully
calibrated
and
tested.

normal

Keep
the
meter
dry. lf it
gets
wet, immediately
wipe it
dry.
Liquids
might
contain
minerals
that
can
corrode
the elec-
tronic
circuits.
Use
and store the meter only in normal
temperature envi-
ronments.
Temperature
extremes can shorten the life
of
electronic devices, damage batteries,
and distort or melt
plastic
parts.
Handle
the
meter
gently
and carefully. Dropping
it
can dam-
age
the circuit boards and cause the meter
to
work improp
erlY.

Keep
the meter
away
from
dust and dirt,
wnich
can cd0-be
parts
to
prematurely
wear.
Wipe
the meter with a damp cloth
occasionally
to keep it
looking new.
Do
not
use
harsh
chemicals, cleaning sol-
vents,
or strong detergents to clean the meter.
Use only fresh batteries of the recommended size and type.
Always remove
old or
weak
batteries.
They
can
leak
chemi-
cals
that destroy electronic circuits.
Modifying
or tampering
with
your
meter's
internal components
can cause
a
malfunction
and
might invalidate
the
meter's war-
ranty.
