Installationdistanceincaseofcombustiblewall
Tofindoutwhetherthewallnexttowherethestoveisgoingtobeinstalledisflammable,
youshouldcontactyourbuildingcontractororthelocalbuildingauthorities.
Thehearthshouldbeabletoaccommodatetheweightofthestove.Thechimneymust
beindependentlysupportedbywallbracketsoraceili ngsupportplate.Theweightofthe
stoveisindicatedinthebrochure.
Thestoveshouldalwaysbeinstalledonanoncombustiblehearthofasi zeand
constructionthatisinaccordancewiththeprovisionsofthecurrentUKBuilding
RegulationsApprovedDocumentJ.
Ifthestoveistobeinstalledonawoodenfloor,itmustbecoveredwitha
noncombustiblematerialatleast12mmthick,inaccordancewithUKBuilding
RegulationsApprovedDocumentJ,toadistanc eof300mminfrontofthestoveand
150mmtoeachsidemeasuringfromthedooroft hecombustionchamber.
Theclearancedistancestocombustiblematerialbeneath,surroundingoruponthe
hearthandwallsadjacenttothehearthshouldcomplywiththeguidanceonthe
separationofcombustiblematerialgiveninUKBuildingRegulationsApproved
DocumentJandalsointhesestoveinstructions.
Commissioningandhandover
Ensureallpartsarefittedinaccordancewiththeinstr uctions.
Oncompletionoftheinstallationallowasuitableperiodoftimeforanyfirecementand
mortartodryout,beforelightingthestove.Oncethestoveisunderfirecheckallseals
forsoundnessandcheckthattheflueisfunctioningcorrectlyandthatallproductsof
combustionareventedsafelytoatmosphereviathechimneyterminal.
Oncompletionoftheinstallationandcommissioningensurethattheoperating
instructionsforthestoveareleftwiththecustomer.Ens uretoadvisethecustomeron
thecorrectuseoftheapplianceandwarn themtouseonlytherecommendedfuelforthe
stove.
Advisetheuserwhattodoshouldsmokeorfumesbeemittedfromthestove.The
customershouldbewarnedtouseafireguardtoBS8423:2002(ReplacesBS6539)in
thepresenceofchildren,agedand/orinfir mpersons.
COAlarm
Buildingregulationsrequirethatwheneveraneworreplacementfixedsolidfuelor
wood/biomassapplianceisinstalledinadwellingacarbonmonoxidealarmmustbe
fittedinthesameroomastheappliance.Furtherguidanceontheinstallationofthe
carbonmonoxidealarmisavailableinBSEN50292:2002andfromthealarm
manufacturer’sinstructions.
Provisionofanalarmmustnotbeconsideredasubstituteforeitherinstallingthe
appliancecorrectlyorensuringregularservicingandmaintenanceoftheapplianceand
chimneysystem.
