3.3. CLEANING
THE MACHINE
ln spite of all
precautionary
measures
taken while
preparing
the
folding
machine
for
dispatch,
dirt
or
foreign bodies Inay
accumulate
on the machine
in transit and
may cause considerable
damage
if the
machine is not cleaned
carefully.
ATTENTION!
It is essential
that
this is checked
carefully
and that
any
accumulated
diil
or foreign
material is
thoroughly removed.
The dirt
must not
be removed with
compressed
air as
this
may cause
the dirt to
be transpofted
into undesirable
areas
such as bearings,
guides,
spindles,
etc.
The machine
has
been
thoroughly
coated
with
preservative
in the factory
and it is
therefore
necessary to remove the
rust-proofing
compound.
Use kerosene, white
spirit or a standard
solvent to
remove the rust-proofing
compound (preserv-
ative).
Caution -
all
of these agents
are highly
inflammable -
fire and
explosion
hazard.
ATTENTION!
Paint thinners may
not be used under
any circumstances
as
these
may attack the
paint
finish.
The
machine must be cleaned
thoroughly before
it is connecled
to the electric system
and
put
into
operation.
The machine
must not be connected
to the electric system
while cleaning
off the transport
dirt and rust-proofing
compound.
The main
switch on the
switchgear cabinet
must be turned
off
(position
0) and secured
with a
padlock.
The member of
staff responsible
for this work
must take
possession
of the
padlock
key.
