SAFETY PROCEDURE
SAFE OPERATION PROCEDURE
y Read the operating manual and safety instructions
before you use it
y Ensure all operators are suitably trained and wear
protective clothing where necessary
y Always wear hearing protection and any appropriate
personal protective equipment
y Complete all safety check and prestart inspections
before use
y Drive at speed slow enough to maintain control over
unexpected hazards
y Keep others clear of moving RAT Barrow
y Always check behind you before reversing
y Make sure you completely shut down the RAT Barrow
before getting off, even if you only get off temporarily
for small tasks
y Drive the RAT Barrow with caution to avoid tipping
over – always:
drive slowly
drive especially slowly and take extra care when
turning
keep your feet on the decking at all times
do not drive on steep angles
never travel downhill with the Transaxle

y Ensure the tub latch firmly locks under the bar at all
times
y Before refuelling or making adjustments, bring the
machine to a complete standstill. To do so, isolate the
RAT Barrow by applying the handbrake and turn the
key switch to the ‘off’ position
y Take extreme care when refuelling
allow engine to cool before refuelling
avoid spilling fuel onto hot motor or exhaust
DO NOT
y Do not use faulty equipment
y Do not use if guards are not in place
y Never carry passengers
y Do not travel on slopes of greater than 15 degrees
y Do not travel quickly over rough ground as this may
cause injury
y Do not operate when other people are close
HILL CLIMB
y Max Slope Angle: 15 degrees
y Travel directly up/down slopes rather than across,
taking extra care when ascending or descending steep
slopes. Ensure handbrake is applied when stopping.
