Overview

The Reka MS 200/MS 200.E Hot-Melt Glue Applicator is a versatile and robust tool designed for the effortless and hassle-free processing of non-reactive hot-melt granulates, pillows, and 43mm sticks. This device operates without the need for compressed air, making it a convenient solution for various gluing applications.

Function Description:

The applicator works by dispensing non-reactive hot-melt glue through a mechanical conveying system. It features a heating chamber that melts the glue to a precise working temperature, which is then dispensed by pulling a trigger. The quantity of glue dispensed is adjustable, allowing for precise application in various forms, such as dots and beads. The device is designed for continuous workflow and is suitable for both right- and left-handed users, as well as those with smaller hands, thanks to its ergonomic handle and adjustable trigger.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Article Number: MS 200 (5570 for 230V, 5571 for 120V); MS 200.E (5602 for 230V, 5603 for 120V)
  • Weight: 1220 g

  • Degree of Protection: IP 30
  • Temperature Control: Thermostat (MS 200); Electronic (MS 200.E)
  • Temperature Limitation: Temperature monitor
  • Operating Temperature: 20 – 200 °C (70 – 390 °F) for MS 200; 30 – 200 °C for MS 200.E
  • Temperature Constancy: ± 5 °C (MS 200); ± 2 °C (MS 200.E)
  • Heat-up Time: Approximately 5 minutes
  • Gross Tank Capacity: 250 ml
  • Conveying System: Mechanics
  • Length of Electric Cable: 1.8 m (MS 200); 2.5 m (MS 200.E)
  • Recommended Melts: Hot-melt granulate, pillows, and 43mm (1.7") sticks/slugs

Usage Features:

The MS 200/MS 200.E is designed for ease of use and safety.

  • Start-up and Control: The applicator is turned on/off via an illuminated switch. Temperature is continuously adjustable using a screwdriver on the upper side of the applicator, with a maximum setting of 200 °C. The trigger adjustment screw on the left side of the casing allows control over the lever stroke and the quantity of glue dispensed.
  • Loading Hot-Melt: After a heat-up period of approximately 5 minutes, the lid is opened by turning the star grip counter-clockwise. Granulate or sticks should be filled up to 1.5 cm (~0.6 inch) under the rim of the feeding opening. It is crucial not to start working before the glue has fully melted to avoid damaging the applicator.
  • Nozzle Replacement: Nozzles should only be replaced when the applicator is warm (60 – 80 °C) and empty, and after unplugging the connecting cable. Replacing a cold nozzle can damage the equipment, while replacing a hot nozzle can cause liquid glue to leak out.
  • Safety Measures: Users must wear protective gloves and safety goggles. Cables should be laid to prevent stumbling hazards. The hot nozzle should never come into contact with the cable or be directed towards people. In case of skin contact with hot glue, cool immediately with cold water and seek medical attention if necessary. The applicator should always be deposited on its wire stand or a designated plate and never laid on its side. Overhead work is not recommended. Solvents or paraffin should never be fed into the applicator due to the risk of explosion.
  • Ergonomics: The ergonomic design and adjustable trigger make it comfortable for extended use, reducing fatigue.
  • Magnetic Foot and Wire Stand: An integrated magnetic foot allows for quick placement and retrieval on magnetic surfaces, while a wire stand ensures secure placement on non-magnetic surfaces.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The applicator generally does not require extensive cleaning if used according to the instructions, as non-reactive glue will remelt. However, soiled glue should never be filled into the melting tank. If glue has coked (especially polyamide-based hot-melts which are sensitive to overheating), the applicator should be cleaned with REKA cleaning liquid (article no. 3519). Solvents, benzine, benzene, toluene, acetone, or turpentine should never be used for cleaning due to explosion risk.
  • Regular Maintenance: For frequent users, regular maintenance by the service department is recommended to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the device.
  • Trouble-Shooting: A comprehensive trouble-shooting guide is provided to address common issues such as insufficient glue flow, glue being too fluid or thick, glue leaks, or the applicator not heating up. For significant damage, the applicator should be sent to Reka for repair.
  • Environmental Protection: Electric tools should not be disposed of with domestic waste. In accordance with European directives, used electric and electronic devices must be collected separately and treated for re-use. Reka packaging material is fully recyclable. Instructions for the disposal of hot-melt glues and cartridges can be found in their respective safety datasheets.
