Why is the thread breaking on my Reliable 4200SW Sewing Machine?
    • C
      Casey Branch DDSAug 4, 2025
Thread breakage with 2-3mm of thread left on the cloth can occur due to several reasons. It could be due to damage on the rotating hook set groove, needle point, rotating hook point, or needle plate, in which case you should polish the damaged part with sandpaper or file down the middle rotating hook set groove. Other possible causes include too strong or too weak needle thread tension (adjust accordingly), too strong tension of the thread take-up spring (weaken it), too little oil on the rotating hook (adjust the oil amount). Collision between needle and rotating hook or timing issues between needle and rotating hook can also cause thread breakage.

What to do if my Reliable Sewing Machine has a loose stitch?
    • C
      Cynthia WellsAug 12, 2025
A loose stitch in your sewing could be due to a few reasons. Make sure you've threaded the bobbin thread under the spring of the thread tension of the rotating hook body. Check for any bad spots on the thread way and smooth them with sandpaper or a file. If the bobbin isn't moving, try replacing the bobbin or rotating hook. Also, check the bobbin thread tension; if it's too weak, increase it, and if it's too strong, reduce it. Finally, a damaged needle point can also cause loose stitches, so replace the needle if needed.

How to fix puckering on Reliable Sewing Machine?
    • M
      Matthew HamiltonAug 23, 2025
Puckering can occur due to several factors. It may be due to incorrect timing between the needle and rotating hook. Too weak pressure of the presser foot can also cause puckering, so tighten the presser foot adjusting screw. Another cause can be a wrong needle, in that case replace the needle.
