7. REMINDER: FLATBED/TOW DOLLY RECOVERY TECHNICAL
GUIDELINES
a. Loading a Fluence Z.E. which has broken down or been damaged in an
accident onto a flatbed vehicle.
" Make sure no-one is in the immediate vicinity when the vehicle is being loaded.
" Position the recovery vehicle as close as possible to and in line with the vehicle to be recovered
" Caution: the bed panels are smooth to facilitate the winching of damaged vehicles with jammed
wheels, and may be made more slippery by oil and hydrocarbon deposits left by previous vehicles.
" If the vehicle has been damaged in the accident but can still be driven, drive it forwards onto the bed,
keeping it as centred as possible. If it slides, load the vehicle onto the bed as follows:
Tilt and deploy the bed as close as possible to the damaged vehicle
Comply with the recommended recovery configurations shown above
To facilitate the movement of a vehicle damaged in an accident, if an axle or half-axle has been
damaged, use a jack to raise the damaged vehicle and place it on one or more dollies
Disengage the winch cylinder and unwind the required length of cable
Fit the towing ring and attach the winch cable correctly to the ring
Engage the winch cylinder to put a very light tension on the winch cable and stop the winching
movement.
Release the damaged vehicle's handbrake
Place the damaged vehicle's gear lever in N (neutral)
If possible, set the damaged vehicle's steered wheels straight and in line with the bed
Remove the key from the damaged vehicle's ignition
Place the damaged vehicle's keys outside the vehicle
Engage the winch cylinder and start to haul the vehicle onto the bed
Make sure that the vehicle is not misaligned in relation to the bed
Stop winching when the vehicle reaches the front chocks on the bed.
Apply the damaged vehicle's handbrake
Engage a gear on the damaged vehicle
Secure the vehicle during transportation by attaching it to the cable under slight tension
Secure the damaged vehicle on the bed as shown below
