Overview

This document is the Owner's Manual for a Rinnai Split Type Wall Mounted Air Conditioner. It provides essential information for the safe operation, maintenance, and optimal performance of the appliance.

Function Description

The Rinnai Split Type Wall Mounted Air Conditioner is designed to provide consumer comfort by regulating room temperature. It operates in various modes including Cool, Heat, and Dry, and features a fan-only mode. The unit can be controlled via a remote control, which allows for adjustments to temperature, fan speed, and airflow direction. In cases where the remote control is unavailable, a manual ON/OFF (Auto) button on the indoor unit provides basic operational control. The system includes features such as Auto-Restart after power interruption, Anti-mildew operation, Mute Operation for a quiet environment, Wi-Fi Control (where fitted) for mobile phone operation, Louvre Angle Memory, and Refrigerant Leakage Detection.

Important Technical Specifications

The manual lists several Rinnai System Models, including HSNRA26, HSNRA35, HSNRA50, HSNRA70, and HSNRA80, each with corresponding Indoor (HINRAxxM) and Outdoor (HONRAxx) unit models. A "Reference Only" model, HINRA20M, is specified for matching multi-system use only. The appliance uses R410A refrigerant. Optimal performance is achieved within specific temperature ranges:

  • Cool Mode: Room Temperature 17°C ~ 32°C, Outdoor Temperature -15°C ~ 50°C
  • Heat Mode: Room Temperature 0°C ~ 30°C, Outdoor Temperature -15°C ~ 30°C
  • Dry Mode: Room Temperature 17°C ~ 32°C, Outdoor Temperature 0°C ~ 50°C Operating outside these ranges may activate safety protection features, affecting performance. The remote control uses AAA (1.5 V) batteries.

Usage Features

  • Remote Control Operation: The primary method of control, allowing for precise adjustments. The remote control should be pointed towards the signal receiver on the indoor unit.
  • Manual Operation: A button on the indoor unit allows for temporary operation in FORCED AUTO mode (automatic cooling, heating, and fan speed) or FORCED COOLING mode (lowest temperature, highest fan speed) when the remote control is not available.
  • Airflow Adjustment: Vertical airflow (louvre angle) can be adjusted using the SWING/DIRECT buttons on the remote control for fixed positions or continuous circulation. Horizontal airflow adjustment details are available in the Remote Control Manual.
  • Sleep Operation: This function, activated via the remote control, reduces energy consumption during sleep. In cooling mode, the temperature increases by 1°C after 1 hour, and another 1°C after a second hour, then maintains this setting for 7 hours before turning off. In heating mode, the temperature decreases similarly. Sleep mode is not available in FAN or DRY modes.
  • Automatic Restart: In case of a power outage, the unit will automatically restart with its previous settings once power is restored, after an approximate 5-minute restart cycle.
  • Display Window States: The indoor unit's display shows various indicators such as "ON" (Timer ON, Fresh, Swing, Turbo, Silence ON), "OF" (Timer OFF, Fresh, Swing, Turbo, Silence OFF), "CF" (anti-cold air), "dF" (defrosting), "SC" (self-cleaning), "FP" (freeze protection), and "E-C-O" (ECO function with set temperature). In Fan mode, room temperature is displayed; in other modes, the set temperature is shown.

Maintenance Features

  • Indoor Unit Cleaning: Wipe with a soft dry cloth; a warm damp cloth can be used for dirtier surfaces. Avoid water inside the unit, chemicals, harsh detergents, benzene, paint thinners, polishing powder, or solvents. Water hotter than 40°C should not be used on the front panel.
  • Air Filter Cleaning: Filters should be inspected and cleaned at least every two weeks. Dirty filters reduce efficiency and air quality.
    1. Grip the filter tab, lift, and pull out.
    2. If present, unclip the small air freshening filter from its holder.
    3. Clean filters with a vacuum cleaner or warm water with mild detergent.
    4. Rinse with fresh water and shake off excess.
    5. Dry in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
    6. Re-insert securely and close the front panel.
    • Do not operate the system without filters.
    • Avoid touching metal parts during filter removal.
    • Do not use chemicals or volatile substances on filters.
  • Filter Reminder (where fitted):
    • Cleaning Reminder: "CL" flashes after 240 hours of use. Reset by pressing the LED button on the remote control 4 times or the Manual Control button 3 times.
    • Replacement Reminder: "F" flashes after 2,880 hours of use. Reset in the same manner as the cleaning reminder.
  • Outdoor Unit Cleaning: Periodically inspect to ensure no vegetation obstructs the unit. Keep the cabinet clean and maintain recommended clearances. Ensure no water build-up. Any maintenance or cleaning of the outdoor unit must be performed by an authorised dealer or licensed service provider.
  • General Maintenance (Prolonged Non-Use):
    • Clean all filters.
    • Run Fan function until the unit is completely dry.
    • Turn off the unit and disconnect power.
    • Remove batteries from the remote control.
  • General Maintenance (Pre-Season Inspection):
    • Check for damaged wires.
    • Clean all filters.
    • Check for leaks.
    • Replace batteries.
    • Ensure all air inlets and outlets of both indoor and outdoor units are unobstructed.
  • Professional Servicing: The air conditioning system should be maintained annually by a qualified licensed technician. Failure to do so may void the warranty. Service maintenance is not covered under warranty and is a chargeable service.
