Propanesystem
Prop aneisvery flammable,heavierthanair andsmells likerotten eggs. Itis used for heating,
cookingandrefrigerationinamotorhome.For your safety, a propaneleakdetectingdeviceis
installed in each motor home somewhere near the kitchen‐just above the floor. A green
blinking light shows proper function. An amber (orange) blinking light indicates an error with
thedetectorandyoushouldhaveitcheckedbeforeyoustopforthenight!Aredblinkinglight
and loud high pitch beep indicates dangerous propane levels and you should proceed
immediatelywiththefollowingsteps:
1. TurnoffanyopenflamesdoNOTtouchelectricalswitches(potentialsparks!)
2. Exitthevehicleimmediatelyandclosethemainvalveonthe propanetank
3. Waitseveralminutesbeforereenteringthevehicle
4. Openwindowsandtheentrydoorandallowthepropanetodissipatefully
5. Resetthepropanealarmbypushingthemutebutton
6. Closethestove and ovenburnervalves;turnoff the waterheater;turnoffthefurnace
andrefrigerator
7. Turnthemainvalveonthepropanetankbackonifyousmellpropaneagainturnit
backoffandcallouremergencynumberonpage3
8. Ifyoudonotsmellpropaneturntheaboveappliancesonagainifyousmellpropane
againturnthembackoffandcallouremergencynumberonpage3
9. Ifyou donotsmellpropaneandthealarm does not gooffanymore,thesourceofthe
leak may have been a temporarily open valve at the cook top. You should be safe to
continueyourtrip.
Certain cleaning solvents also
triggerthepropanealarm.

A regular low pitch beep about every 30 90 seconds indicates low
batteryvoltage.

Carbonmonoxide
Carbon monoxide (CO) is an odorless but highly poisonous gas. For
this reason a carbon monoxide detector is mounted in the main
bedroom. On some models a green blinking light shows proper
function.Anamber(orange)blinkinglightindicatesanerrorwiththe
detector and you should have it checked before yo
u stop for the
night! A red light and loud high pitch beep indicates dangerous
carbon monoxide levels and you should proceed immediately with
thefollowingsteps:
