TYPICAL
Crankcase
Crankcase mating surfaces are best cleaned us-
ing a combination of the chisel gasket remover
(P/N 413 708 500) and a brass brush. Brush a first
pass in one direction then make the final brushing
perpendicularly (90°) to the first pass cross (hatch).
CAUTION: Never use a sharp object to scrape
away old sealant as score marks incurred are
detrimental to crankcase sealing.

SECOND PASS
Finish the cleaning with acetone.
CAUTION: Be careful not to spray cleaner on
the painted surface of the engine. Do not wipe
with rags. Use a new clean hand towel only.

mension specifications. For dimension measure-
ment procedures, refer to ENGINE MEASURE-
MENT.
