Like all apparatus run by electricity these units are capable of delivering potentially lethal voltage.

designed for long term laboratory use and to obtain reproducible results. Please spend a few
moments reading the instruction manual thoroughly.
The Roth power supply series has been tested and found to comply with the limits for the CE
regulation. Also, it is RoHS compliant to deliver confident product which meets the environmental
directive. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference
when the instrument series is operated in a commercial environment. This power supply series
generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy, and if not installed and used in accordance
with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of
this power supply series in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the
user will be required to correct the interference at their expense. Changes or modifications not
expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate
the equipment. It is strongly recommended for the user to read the following points carefully before
operating this equipment.
1. Read and follow the manual instructions carefully.
2. Do not alter the equipment. Failure to follow these directions could result in personal and/ or
laboratory hazards, as well as invalidate the equipment warranty.
3. Use a properly grounded electrical outlet of correct voltage and current handling capacity.
4. Disconnect from the power source before maintenance and servicing. Refer servicing to qualified
personnel.
5. Never use this instrument without having the safety cover correctly in position.
6. Do not use the unit if here is any sign of damage to the external tank or cover. Replace damaged
parts.
7. Do not use in the presence of flammable or combustible material as fire or explosion may result.
This device contains components, which may ignite such materials.
8. Refer maintenance and servicing to qualified personnel.
9. Ensure that the system is connected to the electrical source according to the local and national
electrical codes. Failure to make a proper connection may create a fire or shock hazard.
10. Use appropriate materials and operate correctly to avoid possible hazards of explosion,
implosion or release of toxic or flammable gases arising from overheated materials.
11. The unit shall be operated only by qualified personnel.

The ROTH Power Supply MINI, manufactured by Cleaver Scientific (model 2907.1), is a compact and versatile microprocessor-controlled unit designed for laboratory electrophoresis experiments. It is suitable for both vertical polyacrylamide and horizontal agarose electrophoresis. The device provides constant current or constant voltage operation, with precise control in 1 mA or 1 V steps, making it ideal for obtaining reproducible results in long-term laboratory use.

Function Description

The ROTH Power Supply MINI allows for continuous or timed operations through a simple and user-friendly interface. It features two electrode pairs, enabling two gels to be run simultaneously, which saves time and bench space. The unit is designed to provide constant voltage or constant current, automatically adjusting the other parameter to its maximum value when one is set. For instance, to operate in constant voltage mode, the current should be set to maximum before starting the run, and vice versa. The device includes a timer function, allowing runs to end automatically when the set time expires. A setting of '0' for the timer will result in a continuous run. Upon completion of a timed run, an alarm will sound. The programmed settings are automatically saved after the AC power is turned off, ensuring that the same settings are displayed for subsequent experiments.

Maintenance Features

• Cleaning: The housing can be cleaned with a dry cloth.
• Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting section for common issues such as no display/lights, repeated fuse breakage, or operation stops. Error messages (Er1, Er2, Er3, nLd, AL1) are explained with corresponding solutions.
• Damage Prevention: Users are advised not to operate the device if damage is suspected, to protect it from physical damage, corrosive agents, and extreme temperatures. Adequate ventilation (at least 10 cm behind and 5 cm on each side) is required.
• Condensation: To avoid condensation after operating in a cold room, the unit should be wrapped in a plastic bag and allowed to equilibrate to room temperature for at least 2 hours before removal and operation.
• Servicing: For any issues not resolved by troubleshooting, users are advised to contact technical service. If the unit needs to be shipped back for repair, specific instructions should be obtained from Carl Roth GmbH + Co. KG.
