4 Maintenance
4.1 Stuffing box
Generally spindle packing have to be changed or tightened immediately, because otherwise a new packing can leak again after
a short period.
Design of spindle packing is shown in the technical data sheets. spindle packing are available as spare parts set at
manufacturer. For ordering spindle packing always give serial number of valve (written on name plate "W. Nr.").
4.2 Change of spindle packing
• make valve and piping pressure less shut off and empty where valve is installed
• to change spindle packing actuator has to be removed. For disassembling actuator please refer to operating instructions of
actuator
• loosen and remove cap nut
• remove old packing set and clean packing compartment
• clean valve spindle
• insert new packing set according to sectional drawing
• tighten cap nut and fit actuator onto valve and check limit switches
caution!: For packing graphite strenuous tightening will cause high friction, which aggravates the movement of spindle.
4.3 Change of bellows seal
Bellows seal and cone spindle is one unit and will always be changed together. Therefore gaskets for valve (501) are necessary.
• make valve and piping pressure less shut off and empty where valve is installed
• remove valve out of pipe
• to change bellows seal actuator has to be removed. For disassembling actuator please refer to operating instructions of
actuator
• remove washer (441) from safety stuffing box
• open screw (451) and take bush (445) out
• by opening screw (305) remove valve spindle (302) out of valve
• remove gasket (450)
• assemble new valve spindle and new gasket (450). Screw cone to valve spindle.
• assemble new safety stuffing box (440) with gasket (450)
• screw washer (441) on top
• put valve into piping
• fit actuator onto valve and check limit switches according operating instructions of actuator.
