RH-5R 5-Watt Radio
USER GUIDE
**NOTE: Your radio was pre-programmed and fully optimized before
shipping to you. You’re not required to use the guide. Go out & play!
Unlike most radios, with the RH-5R you can save a custom frequency
without a computer and software.
Use [ / ] to scroll through the pre-programmed channels until
you have reached your desired channel.
To manually lock the keypad press and hold [LOCK] on the bottom
left of the face of the radio until it verbally says “Lock”. To Unlock
press and hold [LOCK] until radio verbally says “Unlock”.
To turn on Auto Lock press [F], [1], [4], [F] followed by either [ / ]
and [EXIT] to leave the menu. This feature locks the radio keypad if
there is no key operation for 5 seconds.
To activate FM Radio listening, press [FM RADIO]
Use [ / ] to tune to desired frequency.

Hold [MONI] to temporarily change the squelch to zero allowing you to
hear very weak signals.
Monitor a Channel
Signal Strength
Frequency A: Top displayed frequency.
Example shows numeric frequency (VFO Mode)
Frequency B: Bottom displayed frequency.
Example shows alpha channel name (MR Mode)
Keypad Lock Battery Life
Start in VFO mode (press the [EXIT] button if not already in VFO
mode)
Then, type in the desired frequency (MHz) using the numbered
keypad. You may need to use [ / ] for fine tuning adjustments.
Immediately after entering in your desired frequency, press [F],
[EXIT].
Then select the channel you would like to save it to using the
[ / ]. Save it to a channel that is not already in use.
When finished selecting the channel press [EXIT]
To turn on the second channel display press [F], [0], [6], [F]. Then
press [ ] to turn on. Press [F] to save and [EXIT] to leave the menu.
To alternate between the top and bottom channels, press [A/B].

The RH-5R can switch between Memory (MR) mode
[pre-programmed channels], or Manual (VFO) mode [manually
entered frequencies] by pressing the [EXIT] button on the bottom
right of the radio.
• Pre-programmed channels are easily identified by a small
channel number and channel name (also known as an alpha tag).

Out of the box, the RH-5R displays a single channel but has the
capability to display two channels. This is useful if you continuously
switch between channels or need to monitor 2 channels at once.
