GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most
plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of
commercial solvents and can be damaged by their use. Use
clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.

When servicing, use only identical replacement parts.
Use of any other part could create a hazard or cause
product damage.

OPERATION
SANDING
See Figure 9, page 11.
Install the detail sanding backing pad and attach desired
sandpaper. Hold tool in front and away from you, keeping
it clear of the workpiece. Start the tool and let the motor
build to its maximum speed, then gradually lower on the
work with a slight forward movement. Move the tool slowly
over workpiece using forward and backward or side to side
strokes. Upon completion of sanding operation, always
remove tool from workpiece before turning it off.
Do not force. The weight of the unit supplies adequate
pressure, so let the sandpaper and tool do the work.
Applying additional pressure only slows the motor, rapidly
wears sandpaper, and greatly reduces tool speed. Excessive
pressure will overload the motor causing possible damage
from motor overheating and can result in inferior work. Any
finish or resin on wood may soften from the frictional heat. Do
not allow sanding on one spot too long as tool’s rapid action
may remove too much material, making the surface uneven.
