This document describes the RYOBI R18XLMW54 / R18XLMW50 Cordless Lawnmower, a battery-operated, pedestrian-controlled walk-behind lawnmower designed for domestic outdoor lawn mowing.
Function Description
The RYOBI cordless lawnmower is intended for cutting grass in domestic outdoor environments. It operates by being pushed by hand and should never be used with its wheels off the ground, or pulled/ridden on. The product features an "EASY EDGE" function, allowing it to cut grass along walls or lawn edges efficiently. It also includes a grass catcher for collecting clippings, preventing them from being discharged across the lawn during mowing. The lawnmower is equipped with overload and overheat protection systems to ensure safe operation and prevent damage to the product and battery.

Usage Features
- Starting and Stopping: The product is started by pressing a start button and squeezing/holding the on/off lever. Releasing the on/off lever stops the product. A safety key must be inserted for operation.
- Handle Assembly: The lawnmower features a top handle and a bottom handle, which are secured with handle knobs. Quick-release fasteners lock the handle in place. The handle can be folded down for storage.
- Motor Control Cable: The motor control cable is routed along the handle and secured with retainers. It is crucial to ensure the cable is not trapped, pinched, or damaged.
- Battery and Safety Key: The battery pack is inserted into a battery port within a battery door. A safety key must be inserted, and the battery door closed, for the product to operate. The battery pack clicks into place and must be secured.
- Cutting Height Adjustment: The cutting height can be adjusted by pulling the cutting height adjustment lever towards the wheel and raising or lowering the deck. There are seven height slots for different cutting preferences. It is recommended to start mowing at the highest position.
- EASY EDGE Function: This feature allows the product to easily cut grass along walls or the edge of the lawn by pulling grass towards the blade.
- Grass Catcher: For bagging operation, the grass catcher is hooked to the mower after raising the rear door. It collects grass clippings, preventing discharge across the lawn. The grass catcher should be emptied when full.
- Overload Protection: If the product overloads, it automatically turns off. The on/off lever must be released, the start button pressed, and the on/off lever squeezed to restart. If it doesn't start, reinstall the battery pack.
- Overheat Protection: The battery pack has overheat protection, causing it to stop powering the product if it gets too warm. Allow it to cool down before resuming operation or recharge it if it still doesn't work. The battery pack LED indicator may not function if this protection is active.
- Operating Conditions: The product should be operated in temperatures between 0°C and 40°C. It is not recommended for use in wet grass or on inclines greater than 15°. When working on slopes, always work across the face of slopes, never up or down, and exercise extreme caution when changing direction.
