      If the cutting line on your Ryobi Trimmer won't advance when using the bump feed action: * Line welded to itself: Lubricate with silicone spray. * Not enough line on the spool: Install more line. * Line worn too short: Pull the line while alternately pressing down on and releasing the bump knob. * Line tangled on spool: Remove the line from the spool and rewind it. * Engine speed too slow: Advance the line at full throttle. * Line spool installed backward: Ensure the writing on the line spool is facing the correct way; THIS SIDE OUT FOR STRAIGHT SHAFT.

      Your Ryobi Trimmer might not start due to several reasons: * The switch is in the off position: Set the switch to the ON position. * No spark: Remove the spark plug, reattach the cap, and lay it on the metal cylinder. Pull the starter cord to check for a spark. If there's no spark, try a new spark plug. * No fuel: Push the primer bulb until it's full. If it doesn't fill, the fuel delivery system is blocked. * Flooded engine: Turn the switch off, remove the spark plug, and aim the spark plug hole at the ground. Pull the starter cord 10-14 times to clear excess fuel. Clean and reinstall the spark plug. Depress the throttle trigger fully and pull the starter cord 3 times.
