Why Ryobi RBC254SESO engine will not start?
    • D
      Diane MartinJul 25, 2025
The Ryobi Trimmer engine might not start due to several reasons: no spark (potentially damaged spark plug), no fuel, a flooded engine, a start rope that's harder to pull, or old fuel. Check the spark plug for dirt and cracks, and replace if necessary. Push the primer bulb until it's full of fuel; if it doesn't fill, the primary fuel delivery system may be blocked and requires servicing. If the engine is flooded, remove the spark plug, aim the spark plug hole at the ground, rotate the choke lever to the “ ” position, and pull the starter cord 10 to 15 times to clear excess fuel. Clean and reinstall the spark plug. Ensure you're using fresh fuel mixed with the recommended oil, as fuel over 30 days old may prevent starting.

What to do if Ryobi Trimmer engine emits excessive smoke and does not reach full speed?
    • M
      Michael WallaceAug 4, 2025
If your Ryobi Trimmer engine smokes excessively and doesn't reach full speed, the issue might be related to the fuel mixture, a dirty air filter, or a dirty spark arrestor screen. Ensure you are using fresh fuel and the correct 2-stroke lubricant mix. Also, clean the air filter.

How to fix Ryobi RBC254SESO Trimmer when the line will not advance?
    • D
      David JonesAug 14, 2025
If the line on your Ryobi Trimmer won't advance, it could be due to several reasons: the line is welded to itself, there's not enough line on the spool, the line is worn too short, the line is tangled, or the engine speed is too slow. Try lubricating the line with silicone spray. If that doesn't work, install more line. You can also try pulling the lines while pressing down on and releasing the bump head. If the line is tangled, remove it from the spool and rewind it. Ensure you advance the line at full throttle.
