How to fix Ryobi Trimmer when engine will not start?
    • A
      Andrew McdanielAug 21, 2025
If the Ryobi Trimmer engine won't start, check the spark plug by removing it, reattaching the cap, and laying it on the metal cylinder. Pull the starter rope and look for a spark at the plug tip. If there's no spark, try again with a new spark plug. Also, make sure the primer bulb is full of fuel. If it doesn't fill, the primary fuel delivery system may be blocked and you should contact a servicing dealer. If the engine is flooded, remove the spark plug and turn the unit so that the spark plug hole points towards the ground. Rotate the choke dial to the “ ” position and pull the starter cord 10 to 15 times to clear excess fuel. Clean and reinstall the spark plug, then pull the starter three times with the choke dial at “ ”.

If the line on your Ryobi Trimmer isn't advancing, it could be due to several reasons: 1. The line might be welded to itself. Lubricate it with silicone spray. 2. There might not be enough line on the spool. Install more line. 3. The line might be worn too short. Pull the lines while alternately pressing down on and releasing the bump head. 4. The line could be tangled on the spool. Remove the line and rewind it. 5. The engine speed might be too slow. Advance the line at full throttle.
