Pull the starter rope with a quick, firm, and consistent upward motion until the engine starts or fires. 6. Readjust the choke lever halfway and let the engine warm up for 5-20 seconds. If the engine tries to start but doesn't run, restart it in the half choke position and let it warm up. 7. Squeeze the throttle trigger to disengage the fast idle, which will automatically adjust the choke to the run position.
