Usage Features

General Safety: It is essential to read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before operating the machine. The appliance should only be used for its designated purpose and not for commercial use. It is not designed for outdoor use unless specifically stated. Users should avoid immersing the appliance in liquids, using it with wet hands, or vacuuming hazardous substances like hot ashes, sharp objects, toner dust, flammable/poisonous liquids, or liquids hotter than 60°C. Children, disabled persons, and the aged should be supervised and not operate the appliance without proper instruction. Always switch off and unplug the machine before assembly, emptying, connecting/disconnecting attachments, or maintenance.

Dry Vacuuming: For dry vacuuming, the cartridge filter and a dust bag must be installed. The cloth pre-filter can be placed over the cartridge filter to reinforce the dustproof effect, but it cannot be used alone. The hose is inserted into the front inlet of the tank and locked, and the desired accessory is fitted to the suction tube. The motor is turned on via the 'I' (ON) position on the ON/OFF switch. After use, the switch is flipped to 'O' (OFF), and the power cord is unplugged.

Wet Vacuuming: For wet vacuuming, the cartridge filter and dust bag must be removed, and a foam filter installed over the filter basket. The cartridge filter should not be used for wet or sharp materials. The desired nozzle is fitted to the vacuum hose. The motor is turned on via the 'I' (ON) position. When vacuuming large quantities of liquids, the nozzle should not be completely immersed to allow air inflow. A float valve will stop suction when the container reaches maximum capacity, indicated by an increase in motor speed. In such cases, the machine must be turned off, unplugged, and the liquid drained. The foam filter must be removed after wet vacuuming before dry vacuuming again.

Blower Operation: To use the blower function, the large end of the hose is inserted into the blower connection on the motor housing. The crevice tool can be fitted to the vacuum hose. Safety goggles and a dust mask are recommended, and bystanders should be kept clear. The motor is turned on via the 'I' (ON) position. If the hose remains blocked after a few seconds, the unit should be turned off, and the blockage cleared manually.

Connecting Electrical Appliances (Power Take-Off): The vacuum cleaner features an outlet-socket for power take-off, allowing connection of other electrical appliances with a maximum power rating of 900W. When the connected appliance is switched off, the vacuum cleaner will switch off after a time lapse.

Maintenance Features

Dry Filter Installation and Cleaning: The dry filter is installed over the filter cage with the flat end towards the vacuum power head, pushed in until it stops. The filter retainer is placed on top and tightened clockwise. To remove, the retainer handle is turned anticlockwise, and the filter is pulled up. The cartridge filter is not washable and should be cleaned by gently tapping or brushing off dirt. It is recommended to change this filter regularly (e.g., every 3-6 months) depending on usage.

Foam Filter Installation and Cleaning: Before changing to the foam filter, the dry dust filter must be removed. The foam filter is carefully slid down over the filter cage, ensuring it is fully covered. To clean, the foam filter is removed and washed with a mild soap and water solution, then rinsed with clean water. It must be air-dried completely before reinstallation and use.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a FAQ section for common problems:

  • Appliance doesn't work: Check power supply, functional fault in power cord/switch/motor, or full tank. Solutions include checking power, having damaged parts checked/replaced, or emptying the tank.
  • Dust escaping from motor cover: Indicates a missing or damaged dust bag, which should be inserted or replaced.
  • Low suction power/high motor speed/vibrations: Suggests a full dust bag or a blocked suction nozzle, hose, or tank inlet. Solutions include replacing the dust bag or checking for obstructions.

Regular cleaning of filters and their periodic replacement are crucial for maintaining vacuum performance and are recommended by Vax. Damage to the vacuum cleaner due to not adhering to safety information and instructions will invalidate the warranty.
