Iftheloadislarge(thediameter&pitchofthepropislarge)fortheengine
characteristics,theair-fuelmixtureshouldberich.Thusthemainneedlehastobe
opened.Thatis,eveniftherevolutionislow,thefuelconsumptionishigh.
Conversely,whentheloadissmallandtherevolutionishigh,thefuelconsumption
isloweredbecausethemainneedlecanbeclosed.
Inordertodecreasethefuelconsumptionandprolongtheenginelife,apropeller
shouldbeusedwhoserevolutionismaximizedwhenthethrottle-valveisfully
opened,whileusinganairframewhichenablesallflightswithabout90%ofthe
outputofthepropeller.Inthiscase,thethrottlevalvewillbefurtherthrottled
duringhorizontalflight.Onthecontrary,anairframewhichcanonlydeliver
performanceinfullyopenconditionwillsufferworseningfuelconsumptionandlife.
