Why does my Salton Espresso Coffee Maker have an acid (vinegar) taste?

  An acid or vinegar taste in your Salton Espresso coffee can occur if the coffee maker wasn't cleaned correctly after use. Clean the coffee maker per the content in “before the first use” for several times. Also, if the coffee powder is stored in a hot, wet place for a long time and has gone bad, use fresh coffee powder, or store unused coffee powder in a cool, dry place. After opening a packet of coffee powder, reseal it tightly and store it in a refrigerator to maintain its freshness.

To fix this, align the centreline of carafe with leakage opening of the brew basket well. * The water level in the tank exceeds the MAX scale. Make sure the water level in the tank is within the MIN and MAX scale.

  The steam may not froth in your Salton Coffee Maker due to several reasons: 1. The steam ready indicator is not illuminated. Only after the steam ready indicator is illuminated, the steam can be used to froth (Only for the coffee maker with pump). 2. The container is too big or the shape is not fit. Use high and narrow cup. 3. You have used skimmed milk. Use whole milk or half- skimmed milk.
