The Samlexpower RC-300 is a wired remote control designed for use with Samlex America PST-3000-12 and PST-3000-24 inverter models. Its primary function is to provide remote ON/OFF control for the inverter and display its operational status through an LCD screen and colored LEDs.
Function Description:
The RC-300 allows users to switch the connected inverter ON and OFF from a remote location, offering convenience and flexibility in system management. It serves as an interface to monitor key output parameters of the inverter and provides visual indications of its operational state, including overload and over-temperature conditions.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Compatibility: PST-3000-12, PST-300S-12E, PST-3000-24, PST-300S-24E inverter models.
- Connectivity: Utilizes an RJ-50 (10P10C) cable set with crossed-over/rolled-over connections.
- Cable Length: The included connecting cable is 25 ft / 7.62 meters long.
- Operating Temperature Range: 0 to 40°C (32 to 104°F).
- Dimensions (L x W x D): 110 x 65 x 24.7 mm (4.33 x 2.56 x 0.97 in).
- Weight: 85 gm (0.04 lb) without cable; 256 gm (0.12 lb) with cable.
Usage Features:
- Remote ON/OFF Control: A dedicated ON/OFF Push Button (1) allows for convenient switching of the inverter. Each press of this button is accompanied by an audible beep.
- LCD Display (3): The LCD screen provides a sequential display of six critical AC output parameters:
- AC output voltage (V)
- AC output current (A)
- AC output frequency (Hz)
- Active AC output power (W) – displayed within a range of 6W to 3500W.
- Apparent Output Power (VA)
- Power Factor (PF)
These parameters can be cycled through by pressing the "Display Push Button" (2).
- Booting/Initialization Display: Upon inverter startup, the LCD displays "0" for all parameters for 2 to 6 seconds during booting.
- Low Load Display Behavior: If the AC output power is less than 6W, parameters such as "AC output current in A," "Active AC output power in Watts, W," "Apparent Output AC Power in Volt Amps, VA," and "Power Factor, PF" will display as "0." This is a design feature to prevent inaccurate readings due to noise at very low power outputs.
- Power Saving / Sleep Mode: To conserve power, the LCD display automatically switches OFF into Sleep Mode after 3 minutes of inactivity (i.e., no press of the Display Push Button). It can be reactivated by pressing the Display Push Button (2).
- LED Indicators:
- Green LED (6) "POWER": Illuminates when the inverter is ON, indicating that DC input is available and the input section is operating normally. It is OFF when the inverter is OFF.
- Red LED (4) "OVER LOAD": Lights up to indicate that the inverter's AC output has shut down due to an overload condition.
- Red LED (5) "OVER TEMP": Lights up to indicate that the inverter's AC output has shut down due to an over-temperature condition.
- Installation: The RC-300 is designed for flush mounting on a wall or panel. A suitable cut-out is required to accommodate the projection at the back of the unit.
- Connection: The remote control connects to the inverter via an RJ-50 Modular Jack (7). It is crucial to ensure the inverter is switched OFF before connecting the RC-300. The cable connection must be firm, with the plug's tab securely locked in the jack.
- Operation Prerequisite: The RC-300 will only operate if the inverter's local ON/OFF switch or external ON/OFF control is first set to the ON position. This ensures the inverter's internal circuitry is active.
- No Load Current Draw: When the inverter is enabled (either by its local switch or external control) and the RC-300 is used to turn it ON, the inverter's internal circuitry becomes fully active, even if no load is connected. This results in a small "idle current" or "no load current draw" from the batteries. To prevent unnecessary battery drain when the load is not required, it is recommended to turn OFF the ON/OFF switch on the inverter itself.
Maintenance Features:
- Warranty: The RC-300 comes with a 2-year limited warranty for the United States and Canada, effective from the date of purchase. For regions outside the US and Canada, the warranty period is 6 months.
- Troubleshooting: For identifying abnormal conditions indicated by the LEDs, users should refer to the "Troubleshooting Guide" in Section 11 of the Owner's Manual for the PST-3000-12 / PST-3000-24 inverters.
- Service: Warranty service is performed by Samlex America Inc. Any attempt to remedy defects by unauthorized personnel will void the warranty. The warranty does not cover defects or damages resulting from faulty installation, hook-up, abuse, misuse, or exposure to excessive heat, salt/fresh water spray, or water immersion.
The RC-300 is a robust and user-friendly accessory that enhances the control and monitoring capabilities of compatible Samlex inverters, providing essential information and operational flexibility.
