Overview

This document is a user manual for Samsung Split-type Air Conditioners, specifically covering AQV09NS*, AQV12NS*, AQV18NS*, AQV24NS*, AQV09F**, AQV12F**, AQV18F**, and AQV24F** series models, which provide both cooling and heating functionalities.

Function Description

The air conditioner is designed to regulate room temperature and humidity, offering various operating modes to suit user preferences and environmental conditions.

Operating Modes:

  • Auto Mode: Automatically cools or heats the room based on the set temperature and current room temperature. The unit adjusts between Cool and Heat modes as needed. Temperature can be set between 16°C and 30°C. Fan speed can be set to Automatic, Low, Medium, or High.
  • Cool Mode: Designed for cooling the room. Users can set the desired temperature between 16°C and 30°C. The air conditioner cools until the set temperature is reached, then the fan continues to operate. Fan speeds include Automatic, Low, Medium, High, and Silence mode. Silence mode reduces noise during operation.
  • Heat Mode: Designed for heating the room. Users can set the desired temperature between 16°C and 30°C. The air conditioner heats until the room temperature reaches 5°C higher than the set temperature, then the fan continues to operate. If the room temperature drops 3°C below the set temperature, heating resumes. Fan speeds include Automatic, Low, Medium, High, and Silence mode. For the first 3-5 minutes, the fan may not operate to prevent cool air from flowing out.
  • Dry Mode: Dehumidifies the room. Temperature can be set between 16°C and 30°C. The air conditioner automatically adjusts dehumidification and fan speed.
  • Fan Mode: Ventilates the room to refresh the air. Fan speeds include Low, Medium, and High. Temperature is set automatically in this mode.
  • Good Sleep Mode: Helps users fall asleep and wake up comfortably by automatically adjusting temperature and airflow over an 8-hour cycle. This mode has three stages:
    • Falling asleep: Drops the temperature to ease into sleep.
    • Sound sleep: Slightly raises the temperature to relax the body.
    • Waking up: Provides comfortable crisp air for a refreshed feeling. The air conditioner automatically turns off after the set time. If set for less than 4 hours, operation stops at the set time. If set for over 5 hours, the last hour runs in the Waking Up stage before shutting off. Recommended set temperatures are 25°C-27°C for cooling and 21°C-23°C for heating.
  • Turbo Function: Cools or heats the room as quickly as possible. Operates for 30 minutes with maximum settings before automatically returning to the previously selected mode and temperature. Available in Auto, Cool, and Heat modes. If selected in Dry or Fan mode, the mode changes to Auto mode.

Timer Functions:

  • On Timer: Sets the air conditioner to turn on automatically at a specified time, ranging from 30 minutes to 24 hours.
  • Off Timer: Sets the air conditioner to turn off automatically at a specified time, ranging from 30 minutes to 24 hours.

Airflow Direction Adjustment:

  • Vertical Airflow: The outer airflow blade moves up and down automatically to optimize cooling or heating efficiency. Users can set a fixed vertical direction or allow automatic movement.
  • Horizontal Airflow: The inner blades with small fins can be manually adjusted left or right to direct air in the desired horizontal direction.

Operation Without Remote Control: The air conditioner can be operated directly from the indoor unit if the remote control is lost or broken. Pressing the ON/OFF switch on the indoor unit turns it on. The unit starts in the most suitable mode for the room temperature: Heat if less than 24°C, Cool if 24°C or above.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Refrigerant: R-410A, a fluorinated greenhouse gas with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) = 1975. It should not be vented into the atmosphere.
  • Remote Control Batteries: Uses two AAA, LR03 1.5V batteries.
  • Temperature Ranges:
    • Heating: Outdoor temperature: -10°C to 24°C (approx. -15°C to 24°C for 18/24 series). Indoor temperature: 27°C or less.
    • Cooling: Outdoor temperature: 10°C to 43°C (approx. -10°C to 43°C for 18/24 series). Indoor temperature: 16°C to 32°C. Indoor humidity: 80% or less.
    • Dehumidifying: Outdoor temperature: 10°C to 43°C (approx. -10°C to 43°C for 18/24 series). Indoor temperature: 16°C to 32°C.
  • Power: Maximum input power and current are measured according to IEC and ISO standards.
  • Safety: The unit requires a dedicated power source with separate wiring, and a switch and circuit breaker installed specifically for the air conditioner.

Usage Features

  • Remote Control: Provides comprehensive control over all functions, including mode selection, temperature adjustment, fan speed, airflow direction, and timer settings.
  • Indicators: The indoor unit features operation (GREEN), timer (GREEN), and turbo (RED) indicators. The remote control display shows selected mode, temperature, fan speed, airflow direction, and timer settings.
  • Good Sleep Mode Customization: Users can adjust the desired operation time for Good Sleep mode from 30 minutes to 12 hours.
  • Protection Mechanism: The air conditioner has built-in protection mechanisms. For instance, it may stop operating if outdoor temperatures are too low (heating) or too high (cooling), or if the unit is started immediately after being plugged in or stopped (a 3-minute delay before normal operation).
  • Frost Prevention (Heat Mode): If outdoor temperature is low and humidity is high, frost may form on the outdoor unit. The unit automatically triggers defrost mode for 3 to 14 minutes, during which heating stops. Normal operation resumes after defrosting.
  • Silence Mode: Reduces operational noise during Cool and Heat modes by decreasing fan speed, though this may slightly reduce performance.

Maintenance Features

  • Air Filter Cleaning:
    • The air filter, located under the grille of the indoor unit, should be cleaned regularly to remove accumulated dust.
    • To clean, open the upper front grille, pull out the air filters, remove dust with a vacuum cleaner or brush, then reinsert.
    • The front grille itself can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild detergent (avoid benzene, solvents, or other chemicals).
    • If the air conditioner has not been used for a long time, run the fan for three to four hours to thoroughly dry the inside of the unit.
  • Deodorizing and Bio Filter Cleaning (Option):
    • These filters, designed to remove minute dust particles and odors, should be cleaned every 3 months.
    • To clean, open the upper front grille, pull out the filters, wash them with clean water, and dry them in the shade before reinserting.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a list of common problems and their solutions, such as checking power, circuit breaker, remote control batteries, and filter cleanliness, before contacting service.
  • Disposal: The product should not be disposed of with household waste. It should be separated and recycled responsibly to promote sustainable reuse of materials. Batteries should be removed and disposed of safely. Refrigerant should not be released into the atmosphere. Packaging materials should also be recycled responsibly.
  • Service Contact: Users are advised to contact the service center or manufacturer for repairs, strange noises, burning smells, or smoke. Installation and reinstallation should be carried out by licensed or qualified personnel.
