Overview

The provided manual describes a Samsung Split-type Air Conditioner (Cooling and Heating), specifically covering the AQV09F*, AQV12F*, AQV18F*, and AQV24F* series.

Function Description

This air conditioner offers a range of operating modes to suit various needs:

  • Auto Mode: Automatically cools or heats the room based on the set temperature, adjusting between Cool and Heat modes as needed. The user can set the desired temperature between 16°C and 30°C and select fan speed (Automatic, Low, Medium, High).
  • Cool Mode: Designed for cooling the room. Users can set the temperature between 16°C and 30°C and choose from various fan speeds, including a "Silence mode" for quieter operation. The unit cools if the room temperature is higher than the set temperature and continues fan operation even after reaching the set temperature.
  • Heat Mode: Designed for heating the room. Users can set the temperature between 16°C and 30°C and select fan speed, including "Silence mode." The fan may not operate for the first 3-5 minutes to prevent cool air from flowing out, ensuring the room warms sufficiently. The unit heats if the room temperature is lower than the set temperature and continues fan operation even after reaching the set temperature.
  • Dry Mode: Dehumidifies the room. Users can set the temperature between 16°C and 30°C. The air conditioner automatically adjusts dehumidification and fan speed.
  • Fan Mode: Ventilates the room to refresh the air. Users can adjust the fan speed (Low, Medium, High). Temperature is set automatically in this mode.
  • Good Sleep Mode: This mode is designed to optimize sleep conditions by controlling skin temperature through three stages: Falling Asleep, Sound Sleep, and Wake Up. It is available in Cool/Heat mode. The unit automatically stops after a set operation time (default 8 hours, adjustable from 30 minutes to 12 hours). In Cool mode, it supports quick cooling, wavy temperature control, and comfortable intermittent air. In Heat mode, the temperature decreases by 1°C every hour for two hours, then maintains the temperature. Airflow blades and fan speed are automatically controlled in Good Sleep mode.
  • Turbo Function: Allows for rapid cooling or heating of the room. When activated, the air conditioner operates at maximum settings for 30 minutes before automatically returning to the previously selected mode and temperature. It can be selected in Auto, Cool, and Heat modes. If selected in Dry or Fan mode, the unit switches to Auto mode.

The air conditioner also features On Timer and Off Timer functions, allowing users to schedule automatic power-on and power-off within a range of 30 minutes to 24 hours. These timers can be cancelled if no longer needed.

For convenience, the air conditioner can be operated directly from the indoor unit using an ON/OFF switch if the remote control is lost or broken. In this case, the unit starts in the most suitable mode for the room temperature, which may change between cooling and heating depending on the ambient conditions.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Remote Control: Wireless remote control with a maximum effective distance of 7 meters. Uses two AAA, LR03 1.5V batteries.
  • Temperature Settings:
    • Auto, Cool, Dry, Heat, Good Sleep modes: 16°C to 30°C.
  • Timer Range: On Timer and Off Timer can be set from 30 minutes to 24 hours.
  • Operating Limits (Outdoor Temperature):
    • Heating: AQV09F/AQV12F* series: -10°C to 24°C approx.; AQV18F/AQV24F* series: -15°C to 24°C approx. (Indoor Temperature: 27°C or less). Heating capacity drops significantly below 0°C.
    • Cooling: 10°C to 43°C approx. (Indoor Temperature: 16°C to 32°C approx., Indoor Humidity: 80% or less). Cooling capacity may drop above 32°C indoor temperature.
    • Dehumidifying: 10°C to 43°C approx. (Indoor Temperature: 16°C to 32°C approx.).
  • Input Power & Current: Maximum values are measured according to IEC and ISO standards.

Usage Features

  • Remote Control Display: Shows operating mode, temperature setting, fan speed, airflow direction, timer status, and battery discharge.
  • Indoor Unit Indicators: Operation (GREEN), Timer (GREEN), and Turbo (RED) indicators provide visual feedback on the unit's status.
  • Airflow Direction Adjustment:
    • Vertical: Adjustable via the remote control button. The outer blade moves up and down. When the unit is off, the blade closes completely; when on, it defaults to a set position.
    • Horizontal: Manually adjustable by moving the inner blades (fins) left or right. Users are cautioned not to touch the inner blades during operation to prevent injury.
  • Good Sleep Mode Duration: Automatically stops after 8 hours by default, but can be adjusted from 30 minutes to 12 hours.
  • Protection Mechanism: The unit may stop operation for protection reasons, such as freezing of the heat exchanger or water leakage, especially at low temperatures. After being plugged in or stopped, normal operation resumes after 3 minutes.
  • Warm-up Time (Heat Mode): It takes some time for the room to warm up completely after turning on the air conditioner in Heat mode.
  • Frost Prevention (Heat Mode): If outdoor temperature is low and humidity is high, frost may form on the outdoor unit. The unit will automatically enter defrost mode for 3 to 14 minutes, during which heating stops.
  • High Temperature Operation: If both indoor and outdoor temperatures are high in Heat mode, the outdoor unit's fan and compressor may temporarily stop.
  • Silence Mode: Reduces noise during Cool and Heat modes by decreasing fan speed, which may slightly reduce performance.
  • Power Failure Recovery: The unit automatically restarts with previous settings after a power failure.

Maintenance Features

  • Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter should be cleaned regularly to remove accumulated dust.
    1. Open the upper front grille by pulling the lower right and left tabs.
    2. Pull out the air filters.
    3. Remove dust using a vacuum cleaner or brush.
    4. Insert the filters back into place.
    5. Close the front grille by fixing it to hooks and pushing down the lower tabs.
    • Important: Ensure the circuit breaker is switched off before cleaning.
    • Long-term Non-use: If the air conditioner has not been used for a long period, run the fan for three to four hours to dry the inside thoroughly.
  • Deodorizing and Bio Filter Cleaning (Option): These filters remove minute dust particles and odors and should be cleaned every 3 months.
    1. Open the upper front grille.
    2. Pull out the deodorizing and Bio filters.
    3. Wash with clean water and dry in the shade.
    4. Insert the filters back into their original position (positions can be interchanged).
    5. Close the front grille.
  • Front Grille Cleaning: Clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do NOT use benzene, solvents, or alcohol.
  • Heat Exchanger: The surface of the heat exchanger is sharp, so caution is advised during cleaning.
  • Disposal:
    • Batteries: Remove battery cells from the remote control and dispose of them safely for recycling.
    • Unit: Consult the dealer for proper disposal. Incorrect removal of pipes can release refrigerant, causing injury and environmental damage.
    • Packaging Material: Recycle or dispose of packaging materials responsibly.
    • Product (WEEE): The product is marked for separate collection in the European Union and other countries with similar systems, indicating it should not be disposed of with household waste. This promotes sustainable reuse of materials and prevents harm to the environment and human health. Household users should contact their retailer or local government office for recycling details. Business users should contact their supplier.
