13-2-3 Deflection Block Description
■CXA2165Q : Supplies the EW, H/V-Drive signal, which is necessary for deflection, to the Deflection Block.
⊙ H-Drive drives the H-OUT TR and secondary side power is generated by FBT. The FBT secondary side power supplies the
vertical IC (16.5V,-16.5V) and the EW (16.5V) circuit power to maintain the vertical and horizontal display properly.
⊙ EW Circuit Operation : This circuit secures the horizontal margin and displays a normal horizontal screen by correcting any
horizontal display distortion due to the limit of the horizontal deflection capability.
⊙ Vertical Circuit Operation : The signal is separated into the ¡¾ V-DRIVE (vertical frequency up/down) by CXA2165Q and is
output to the V P Drive and the V N Drive of the Vertical IC. The waveform is sent to DY via the
Vertical IC and controls the vertical display.
⊙ S Correction : Since the front part of a CRT is not a fully flat surface, but a spherical surface, the beams hardly reach the
fluorescent screen evenly. Since the distance between the electron gun and the fluorescent screen is further as it
continues to the edge, the image on the screen at the edge is bigger than that at the center.
To cope with this problem, the distance of the reach of the beam is controlled by adjusting the deflection current
as an S-shape using an CS capacitor and a Linearity Coil.
※ If the capacity of the CS capacitor is sufficiently big, the deflection current keeps linearity.
The smaller the capacity of the CS capacitor, the more S-shaped the deflection current.
