Device Overview and Basic Functions

The TracFone Samsung GALAXY STARDUST™ is a mobile device designed for communication and internet access. It features a touch-screen display and physical buttons for navigation and control. The device operates on radio signals, wireless, and landline networks.

Key Physical Features:

  • Volume (1): Adjusts the sound level.
  • Home (2): Accesses the Home screen; press and hold to open recently-used applications.
  • Menu (3): Accesses menu options from any screen or application; press and hold to open the Google Search window.
  • Charger/USB Dock (4): Port for charging and USB connectivity.
  • Headset Jack (5): Connects to a headset.
  • PWR/LOCK (6): Locks or wakes up the screen; press and hold to turn the phone ON/OFF.
  • Apps (7): Accesses applications.

Usage Features:

Activation and Service:

  • Activation Card: Located inside the package, contains the Serial Number (MEID Dec) needed for activation.
  • Activation Process: Go to TracFone.com or call 1-800-867-7183. Provide the Service Plan PIN (or purchase one with a credit/debit card) and the MEID Dec. If transferring a number, provide the active phone number, current service account number, name, address, password/PIN, and an alternate contact phone number.
  • Confirmation: After online/phone activation, dial *22890 from your TracFone, wait for confirmation, and then make a call.
  • TracFone Account: Create an account at TracFone.com to manage personal profile, credit/billing information, view Service End Date, access programs, special offers, purchase/add service plans, enroll in monthly value plans, check balance, and view FAQs.
  • TracFone My Account App: Download from Google Play™ to track Minutes, Text, and Data balances, and view Service End Date. Standard data rates may apply.

Service Plans:

  • Pay As You Go: Flexible Airtime Card options (60, 120, 200, 450 minutes) add minutes and 90 service days. Phones powered by Android™ triple talk, text, and data on these plans.
    • 60 minutes: 180 talk, 180 texts, 180 MB data.
    • 120 minutes: 360 talk, 360 texts, 360 MB data.
    • 200 minutes: 600 talk, 600 texts, 600 MB data.
    • 450 minutes: 1,350 talk, 1,350 texts, 1,350 MB (1.3 GB) data.
  • 1 Year Card: Adds 1 year (365 Days) and 400 minutes to the airtime balance. Android™ phones triple talk, text, and data.
    • 1 Year/400 minutes: 1,200 talk, 1,200 texts, 1,200 MB (1.1 GB) data.
  • Data Add-On Plans: Add data to Android™ powered phones (300MB, 750MB, 2GB). These plans do not add service days and do not double or triple.
  • Monthly Airtime Plans: Offer contract-like conveniences without a contract. Options include Individual Plan, Family Value Plan, and TracFone Service Protection Plan. Start at $9.99/month, automatically receive minutes and service days, no contracts or cancellation fees. Enrollment requires a valid credit or debit card via TracFone.com/valueplans or by calling 1-800-867-7183.
  • Service Active: To keep service active, refill your Service Plan BEFORE your Service End Date.

Phone Operation:

  • Unlock Screen: Swipe finger across the screen or press PWR/LOCK.
  • Find Serial Number (MEID Dec): Home > Apps > Settings > More > About device > Status. Look for MEID Dec, not Serial number.
  • Find Phone Number: Home > Apps > Settings > More > About device > Status. Look for My phone number.
  • Make a Call: Home > Phone icon > Keypad icon (if not visible) > Enter number (including 3-digit area code, possibly 1 before area code) > Phone icon > End call.
  • Receive a Call: Slide Answer icon down in any direction > End call.
  • International Calls: Dial 1-800-706-3839 (or 1-305-938-5673 for Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Virgin Islands) > Select language > Dial 011 + Country Code + City Code + Telephone Number (for Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Dominican Republic, dial 1 + City Code + Telephone Number). Wait 2 business days after activation.
  • Set Up Google™ Account: Home > Apps > Gmail icon. Follow tutorial. First account registered becomes Primary Google account, syncing contacts, calendar, and Gmail.
  • Set Up Voicemail: Home > Phone icon > Keypad icon (if not visible) > Press and hold 1 key > Follow prompts > End call.
  • Send Text Messages: Home > Messages icon > Compose new messages icon > Enter recipient (contact name or mobile number) > Enter message field > Send icon.
  • Set Up Bluetooth®: Ensure headset is charged and within 30 feet. Home > Apps > Settings > Connections > ON/OFF button next to Bluetooth > Bluetooth > Tap device name > Follow prompts. Common PIN is 0000.
  • Take and Share Pictures:
    • Take Picture: Home > Camera icon > Tap camera icon at bottom. Saved to Gallery.
    • Front-facing Camera: Home > Camera icon > Tap front-facing camera icon at upper corner > Tap camera icon on screen. Saved to Gallery.
    • Share Picture: Tap picture thumbnail (upper left) > Share icon > Messages icon > Enter recipient > Enter message > Send icon.
  • Personalize Ringtones: Home > Apps > Settings > My device tab > Sound > Ringtones > Select ringtone > OK.
  • Personalize Graphics (Wallpaper): Home > Apps > Settings > My device tab > Display > Wallpaper > Select screen > Select folder/image > Size/frame image > Done or Set wallpaper.
  • Manage Applications: Home > Apps > Settings > More > Application manager. View running apps under RUNNING tab. Manage desired application.
  • Mobile Internet Services: Home > Internet icon. Access news, sports, weather, entertainment. Data consumption depends on content size and access time. Refer to TracFone Wireless Terms and Conditions of Service at TracFone.com. May take up to 1 hour after activation.
  • Security Settings: Home > Apps > Settings > My device tab > Lock screen > Screen lock. Follow prompts. If pattern forgotten and Gmail account registered, tap Forgot pattern? and sign in to Gmail. If unable to unlock, call Customer Care at 1-800-867-7183 (resets phone, erases data).
  • Memory Card Access/Replacement: Power OFF > Remove back cover (notch at upper left) > Memory card compartment (right edge, right of battery).
    • Insert: Gold bars down, slide until clicks. Replace cover, power ON.
    • Remove: Push until clicks/pops out, gently slide out. Recommend powering OFF. Replace cover, power ON.

Tips for Usage:

  • Notifications Bar: Slide down from top of screen to view messages and notifications.
  • Settings Access: Slide down Notifications Panel and tap Settings icon.
  • Customizable Screens: Slide finger across screen to access different home screens. Tap Apps icon, then tap and hold an icon to move it to a desired screen.
  • Gmail Backup: Phone automatically backs up to Gmail account. Home > Apps > Settings > Accounts tab > Add account > Google > Select primary Gmail account > Select features to back up/sync.
  • Battery Life: Check Running Services, close unnecessary applications. Use Application manager to end/shutdown background apps. Turn off Bluetooth® and GPS when not in use. Turn off automatic application sync. Set Screen Timeout to lowest setting (default 30 seconds). Reduce data usage. Reduce use of Live Wallpapers. Use factory charger.
  • Data Management: Use secure Wi-Fi. Turn off auto updates or set to Wi-Fi only. Turn off automatic photo uploading or set to Wi-Fi only. Turn off push e-mail or set to sync hourly/manually. Access mobile website versions. Turn off background apps. Download Data Usage App to set mobile data limit reminder.

Maintenance Features:

General Care:

  • Keep Dry: Avoid liquids, precipitation, humidity. Do not dry with oven, microwave, or dryer. Do not use with wet hands.
  • Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Below 0°C / 32°F or above 45°C / 113°F.
  • Avoid Microwaves: Do not dry in microwave.
  • Avoid Dust and Dirt: Do not expose to dust, dirt, or sand.
  • Cleaning: Do not use harsh chemicals, solvents, or strong detergents. Wipe with soft cloth slightly dampened in mild soap-and-water solution. For retractable camera lens, use blower, brush, or lens cleaning paper.
  • Avoid Shock/Vibration: Do not drop, knock, or shake.
  • Avoid Paint: Paint can clog moving parts or ventilation openings.

Battery Care:

  • Proper Handling: Do not disassemble, crush, puncture, shred, or change battery form. Avoid high pressure.
  • Avoid Liquids: Do not let phone or battery contact liquids. If wet, have checked by service provider.
  • Avoid Heat: Do not place in or near heat source. Avoid high temperatures in car. Do not dry with appliance or heat source.
  • Avoid Fire: Do not dispose of in fire.
  • Damaged/Leaking Battery: Do not handle. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, clothing. Contact Samsung for safe disposal.
  • Dropping: Avoid dropping phone or battery. If damage suspected, take to service center.
  • Chargers: Never use damaged charger or battery.
  • Metal Objects: Do not allow battery to touch metal objects to prevent short-circuiting.
  • Approved Accessories: Use only Samsung-approved batteries and chargers.

Troubleshooting:

  • Device Overheating: Some applications or prolonged usage may increase device temperature. Discontinue use, close applications, or turn off device until it cools. Ensure adequate ventilation.
  • Master/Factory Data Reset: Erases internal memory, including Gmail account access. Remember Gmail username/password. Syncs information after logging in.
  • Screen Broken/Cracked: Do not use, as it may cause injury.
  • Touch-Screen Issues: Responds best to light touch from finger pad or non-metallic stylus. Excessive force or metallic objects may damage tempered glass and void warranty.

  • Children's Access: Not a toy. Keep out of reach of small children.

  • Camera Flash/Light: Do not use close to eyes of people or pets.
  • Commercial Mobile Alerting System (CMAS): Device designed to receive Wireless Emergency Alerts from CMAS. Alerts available in provider's coverage area.
  • Smart Practices While Driving: Primary responsibility is safe driving. Do not perform secondary tasks that interfere with driving. Obey laws regarding mobile device use while driving. Use hands-free device, secure phone, place calls when stationary, plan calls, avoid stressful conversations, do not take notes or look up numbers. Do not mount device where it obstructs view. Do not use wireless data services or watch videos while operating vehicle.
  • Location-Based Information: Transmits approximate location. AGPS may be activated during emergency calls. Maps/navigation data may be inaccurate; visually confirm instructions.
  • Emergency Calls: Device operates using radio signals, wireless, and landline networks; not guaranteed in all conditions. Do not rely solely on device for essential communications. Ensure device is ON and in service area. Some network services/features may prevent emergency calls. Provide accurate information. Do not cut off call until given permission.
  • Responsible Listening: Avoid potential hearing loss. Turn volume down before plugging in earphones. Set volume in quiet environment. Be aware of adaptation to higher volumes.   • GPS & AGPS: Uses satellites controlled by U.S. Government. AGPS uses cellular network, may incur airtime/data charges.
