Overview

The Sanhua SEC61x Series is an electronic expansion valve controller designed for refrigeration and air conditioning systems. It functions as a standalone controller capable of operating an electronic expansion valve to manage superheat or discharge air temperature. Additionally, it can serve as an electronic valve driver (positioner) by receiving an external signal from a main system controller.

Function Description:

The controller utilizes an advanced PID algorithm to ensure accurate automatic adjustment of superheat, maximizing system efficiency through precise control. It includes an alarm feature for both low and high superheat conditions, enhancing system safety and reliability. The device is designed for easy installation, supporting both DIN rail and surface mounting options. It is compatible with Sanhua LPF or DPF(S03) series electronic expansion valves (EEVs). The controller can also be configured for alternate use as an electric valve driver, accepting external signals for valve positioning.

  • Communication: "R4" in the model number indicates the controller includes RS485 Modbus communication. Communication speed setup (bdr) supports 4800, 9600, 19200, and 38400 bits/s.

Usage Features:

  • Nomenclature: Model numbers like SEC613-R4 or SEC614-R4 indicate the pressure transducer type ("13" for Voltage, "14" for Current) and the inclusion of RS485 Modbus communication ("R4"). "6" signifies the sixth generation of the Sanhua Electric Expansion Valve Controller.
  • LED Display: The LED display shows Superheat, Pressure, Open%, Temperature, and F/PSIG units. It also indicates alarming (lighting), manual mode (flickering), power-up (lighting), communication (flickering), and parameter change mode.
  • Operating Buttons: Includes PRG (program), UP, DOWN, and SEL (select/save) buttons for navigation and parameter adjustment.
  • Menu Navigation: Access parameters by pressing PRG for 3s, entering a password (default is 5), and using UP/DOWN buttons to navigate menus. SEL button is used to enter menus, cycle through parameters, and save changes.
  • EEV Type Selection (DIP SW):
    • Default Mode (SW2 OFF, SW3 OFF): 1-2 phase, 500 steps, 30PPS.
    • 2 Phase, 2000 steps, 100PPS (SW2 OFF, SW3 ON).
    • Custom Mode (SW2 ON, SW3 ON): Set by parameters in table 3.
  • Control Method Selection (DIP SW):
    • Default Mode (SW1 OFF, SW4 OFF): Superheat control, automatic mode, uses temp./pressure signals, and can operate via RS485 comm.

    • Install in a fixed, secured place (rack or panel).
    • Ensure power input is within designated ranges.
    • Use a circuit breaker or switch (IEC 60947-1 or IEC 60947-3) for power on/off.
    • Output wires should be inflammable grade FV1 (v-1 grade or above), with a thickness of AWG No. 20 (0.50mm) or more.
    • Separate high-voltage and power wires to prevent inductive noise.
    • Avoid strong magnetism, noise, severe vibration, and impact.
    • When extending sensor wires, use shielded wire and avoid excessive length.
    • Keep sensor and signal wires separate from power and load wires.
    • Avoid installing near devices generating strong high-frequency noise (e.g., welding machines, sewing machines, radio, SCR controllers).
