Overview

This document serves as the user's manual for a Digital Combo Signal Finder, a versatile device designed for locating and testing various digital signals, including satellite and terrestrial broadcasts, as well as CCTV camera signals. The manual outlines the device's front panel components, their functions, and detailed instructions for operation, maintenance, and software upgrades.

Function Description

The Digital Combo Signal Finder is primarily used for accurately locating and aligning antennas for satellite (DVB-S/S2) and terrestrial (DVB-T/T2) signals. It also features an optional CCTV camera test function, making it a comprehensive tool for installers and technicians.

For satellite signal finding, the device allows users to select specific satellites from a list, configure LNB types (Single, Universal, MDU) and frequencies, and adjust parameters such as frequency, symbol rate, and polarization. Once a signal is detected, the finder displays key metrics like POWER, C/N, MER, a.BER, and NIT, indicating signal strength and quality. A higher POWER value signifies a stronger signal. The device can also search for satellite channels based on Transponder (TP), Satellite, or Blind search modes.

For terrestrial DVB-T/T2 signals, the finder enables users to select their country, choose between Auto and Manual modes, select the appropriate band (UHF or VHF), and specify the channel frequency. It supports editing frequencies if default parameters are not suitable and can perform channel searches.

The optional CCTV camera test function allows for quick and accurate testing and installation of surveillance cameras. It provides a real-time DC12V 2A power supply for cameras and automatically recognizes Analog, AHD, and TVI camera signals upon input.

The device features a clear LCD display that shows TV programs, operation menus, and detailed parameters. LED indicators provide visual feedback on 22K/13V/18V switch status, signal lock, and power status (Red for on, Green for charging, Orange for full battery).

Usage Features

The signal finder is designed for ease of use with a straightforward interface.

Power Management:

  • To turn the device on or off, press and hold the POWER button for 2 seconds.
  • For first-time use, the battery should be charged for up to 6 hours. Subsequent recharges take 3 to 5 hours. The power LED turns orange when fully charged.
  • The fully rechargeable Li-ion battery provides approximately 5 hours of operation.
  • The device can be charged using a universal charger (AC110V/60Hz or AC 220V/50Hz). It may be necessary to turn off the finder while charging.

Navigation and Control:

  • The front panel includes a set of navigation keys (up, down, left, right) for menu traversal and volume control, along with an OK key for selection confirmation.
  • Number keys allow direct channel selection.
  • Function keys (F1-F4) provide quick access to specific features: F1 switches between TV and Radio programs, F2 mutes audio, F3 switches the display, and F4 shows the channel information menu.
  • Dedicated keys for Angle, Find, Menu, Exit, and LED control simplify operation.

Menu Operations:

  • Language Setting: Accessible from the system setting menu, allowing users to select their preferred language.
  • Restore Factory Setting: Also found in the system setting menu, this option allows users to reset the device to its default settings, which will erase all modified and saved content.
  • Satellite Finding:
    • From the finding menu, users can select a satellite using the navigation buttons.
    • LNB Type and frequency can be configured to match the antenna's LNB.
    • Parameters like frequency, symbol rate, and polarization can be selected or manually edited.
    • The device provides real-time signal strength and quality indicators (PWR, C/N, MER, a.BER, NIT) to aid in antenna alignment.
    • Channel search can be initiated after signal detection.
  • DVB-T/T2 Menu (Optional):
    • Accessed from the main menu, this allows selection of country, mode (Auto/Manual), band (UHF/VHF), and frequency/channel.
    • Users can edit frequencies and perform channel searches.
  • CCTV Camera Test (Optional):
    • Accessed from the main menu, this function allows for testing and powering CCTV cameras.
    • The meter automatically recognizes Analog, AHD, and TVI camera signals.
    • Ensure proper connection of CCTV cable and DV12V before use.
  • Delete Channels:
    • From the main menu, select "Channel" to enter the channel edit menu.
    • Options include deleting TV channels, radio channels, all channels, all TV channels, all radio channels, all FTA channels, or all scramble channels.

Software and Parameters Upgrade:

  • The device supports software and parameter upgrades via a USB stick.
  • Copy the upgrade files to the USB stick, insert it into the USB port, and navigate to the USB menu.
  • Select "USB Upgrade" and choose between "USB Upgrade" (for software) or "Backup Data."
  • Select the appropriate file (Software or CSV for parameters) and initiate the upgrade.
  • It is crucial not to power off the finder during the upgrade process.
  • The latest software and TP lists can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of the Digital Combo Signal Finder.

General Care:

  • Always ensure cables are properly connected before seeking signals.
  • When installing an antenna, verify that the LNB in port of the finder is securely connected to the antenna's tuner with a tested cable.
  • Align the antenna by observing the LED bar and beep signals, which indicate proximity to the satellite. Continue adjusting until the signal bars are strong, the beeping quickens, and the PWR value on the screen reaches its maximum.

Safety Precautions:

  • Only qualified personnel should dismantle the device and charger.
  • Avoid dropping the device or charger into water or fire.
  • Protect the device and charger from shocks or vibrations.

Battery and Charger Maintenance:

  • Use only original batteries and chargers to prevent damage or danger.
  • Dispose of batteries according to local regulations.
  • Do not crush or puncture the battery. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures and high pressure.
  • If the battery is left unused, it will gradually lose its charge. Recharge it before use.
  • Unplug the charger from the electrical outlet when not in use.

Upgrade Process:

  • Ensure the battery is fully charged before performing any software upgrades.
  • Do not switch off the device or disconnect the cable during an upgrade, as this can corrupt the system. The device will restart automatically after a successful upgrade.
