      davisbridgetSep 18, 2025

What to do if my Scag Power Equipment SW Lawn Mower is scalping, blades hitting dirt, or cutting very close to the ground?
    • J
      John RobbinsAug 25, 2025
If your mower is scalping, check and adjust tire pressures. Reduce ground speed to adjust for conditions. It might be necessary to reduce ground speed, raise the cutting height, change the direction of the cut, and/or change the pitch and level. Also, cut grass after it has dried out.

How to fix an uneven cut on flat ground with my Scag Power Equipment SW Lawn Mower, resulting in a wavy, high-low appearance?
    • K
      Katherine BrockAug 26, 2025
An uneven cut on flat ground, resulting in a wavy appearance, can be due to several factors. The blade lift may be worn off, requiring blade replacement. Ensure the blade is mounted correctly with the cutting edge toward the ground. The deck might be plugged with grass accumulation, so clean the underside of the deck and adjust the pitch and level. If the blade is dull, sharpen it.

Why does my Scag Power Equipment SW leave stringers, or occasional blades of uncut grass?
    • R
      Robert CortezAug 27, 2025
Stringers, or occasional blades of uncut grass, can occur if the engine RPM is too low, so run the engine at full 3600 RPM. If the ground speed is too fast, slow down to adjust for conditions. Cutting wet grass can also cause this, so cut grass after it has dried out. Dull blades also contribute to this problem, so sharpen the blades. Finally, if the deck is plugged with grass accumulation or the belts are slipping, clean the underside of the deck and adjust belt tensions.

      Jennifer FrazierSep 9, 2025
If your lawn mower is leaving a wavy or scalloped cut, it could be due to several factors. The blade lift may be worn off, requiring a blade replacement. Make sure the blade is mounted correctly with the cutting edge toward the ground. Also, grass accumulation under the deck can cause this issue, so clean the underside of the deck and adjust the pitch and level. Dull blades may also be the reason, so sharpen them.

Why is my Scag Power Equipment SW leaving stringers or occasional blades of uncut grass?
    • J
      jacobsonstacieSep 12, 2025
Stringers, or occasional blades of uncut grass, can occur if the engine RPM is too low or the ground speed is too fast. Ensure the engine is running at full 3600 RPM and reduce your speed. Cutting wet grass can also cause this issue, so cut after the grass has dried. Dull blades will cause this, so sharpen them. A plugged deck or slipping belts can also be culprits; clean the underside of the deck and adjust the belt tensions.
