instructions in safe custody. This specific product line has been developed to offer you the best comfort and fit.
SCOTT Sports SA shall not accept any complaints arising from using the product for other purposes than that indicated in the present

II LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
This SCOTT product is considered to be an item of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) of Category II, and as such is subject to the
requirements laid down by the Regulation (EU) 2016/425 and Regulation (EU) 2016/425 as brought into UK law and amended.
RELEVANT STANDARDS
This product meets the testing and technical requirements set out by the standard EN 16716 : 2017 (please refer
to the labelling inside the product).
III INTENDED USE AND LIMITATIONS
This SCOTT product is strictly limited for the respective use indicated by the pictograms on the label on the product (see chapter IV. Prod-
uct Information). The intended and reasonably foreseeable use of this product is solely : wintersports and mountaineering.
WARNING : IT CANNOT BE USED IN WATER.
A- RISK AGAINST WHICH THE PPE IS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT
This SCOTT product is a protective equipment for emergency situa-
tions. Under certain conditions, it can prevent a total burial, if activated. It cannot prevent the release of an avalanche. An element of deadly
risk remains even if the user doesn’t get buried. Every avalanche is absolutely life threatening regardless of any protective equipment. There
-
fore, this SCOTT product should not encourage you to take greater risks.
B- LEVEL OF PROTECTION
These SCOTT Products have been designed within the requirements of the European safety standard EN
16716:2017: “Mountaineering equipment - Avalanche airbag systems - Safety requirements and test methods”.
C- PERFORMANCE RECORDED
In the event of an avalanche, the user must tug on the trigger handle in order to activate the inflation:
this inflates the 162 litres avalanche airbag within 3 seconds.
The SCOTT product concept is based on the physical principle of inverse segregation. This is a phenomenon whereby, given a uniformly
moving mass of particles, the smaller particles sink downwards and the larger ones float to the surface. The inflated airbag increases the
victim’s volume and greatly amplifies this inverse segregation effect (see section X - F). Moreover, the rounded shape gives optimal float
efficiency on the avalanche and the bright airbag color helps rapid localization.
D- MISUSES
The product is designed to operate between the temperatures of - 30°C and + 50°C.
We recommend that the SCOTT product should not be left outside, exposed to low temperatures or direct sunlight before use. Any prod
-
uct modifications may cause loss of protection and are therefore considered as improper use.
WARNING : THE COMPRESSOR COMPARTMENT MUST REMAIN CLOSED TO PREVENT OBJECTS FROM BEING SUCKED INTO THE COMPRESSOR AND BLOCKING INFLATION OF THE AIRBAG.
FURTHER MORE, ENSURE THAT THE QUICK BURST ZIPPER OF THE AIRBAG COMPARTMENT AND SECURITY FLAP IS FULLY CLOSED.
