  If you hear 4 short beeps when pressing the start/stop button with the safety lanyard already installed, it means that the shifter is NOT in neutral. Place the shifter in neutral. When moving the shifter, 1 short beep indicates you reached the neutral position.

  If you hear one long beep while installing the safety lanyard or pressing the start/stop buttons, it could be due to a bad connection between the safety lanyard cap and the DESS post. Remove and reinstall the safety lanyard on the DESS post. Two short beeps should be heard, indicating the system is ready to allow engine starting. Also, make sure you are using the safety lanyard that has been programmed for the boat. The safety lanyard cap might also be dirty. Clean it.
