Other potential issues include a discharged battery, corroded or loose battery connections. If the engine is water-flooded, refer to WATER-FLOODED ENGINE in SPECIAL PROCEDURES. Other possible causes may be a faulty sensor (RFI and DI models) or MPEM, a seized engine, or a seized jet pump.

In DI models, the safety lanyard used might be limiting the watercraft's top speed, or the monitoring system might have put the watercraft in limp home mode due to a component malfunction. Clean the intake, replace the impeller, and use a safety lanyard that allows reaching top speed. Releasing the throttle so that the engine returns to idle speed can also help.
