3.4. CARBURETTOR TEST.
NOTE: Ensurethatthesparkplugs,ignitiontimingandvalveclearancesareallcorrectlyadjustedbeforeadjustingthecarburettor.
3.4.1. Connect the gauge hose to the inlet manifold.
3.4.2.  Startengineandallowtoreachnormaloperatingtemperature.Atidlingspeedthegaugeshouldhaveasteadyreadingbetween17
 and22inHg,iftheneedlevariesbetween14and22inHg,thisindicatesthatthecarburettorrequiresadjustment.
3.4.3.  Adjustthecarburettorasfollows:
 a)Atidlingspeedadjustthemixturescrewuntilthehighestreadingisobtainedandtheneedleissteady.
 b)Ifahighspeedadjustmentisrequired,increasetheenginespeedto2000to2500rpmandadjustthemixtureuntilthehighest 
reading is obtained with a steady needle.
 c)Ifthecarburettorhasahighandlowspeedsettingadjustthehighspeedsettingrst.
NOTE: Ifthecarburettorisworn,hasblockedjetsorincorrectjetstteditmaynotbepossibletoadjustthecarburettortoitsoptimum.
