1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL

w ith Trac to r on level ground . Wipe dipstick (Fig. 17)
clean, push it do wn tight for a few seconds, remo ve and
r ead Oil level. If necessary, add O il until "FULL" ma rk is
reached. In summer use S.A.E. 30 (SC, SO, SE or SF) Oil.
In winter (below 32°F.) use S.A.E. 10W30 (S C, SO, SE or
SF). In extreme cold (below o·F.) use S.A.E. 5W20 (SC,
SO,
SE or SF). DO NOT USE 10W40 OIL. NOTE: DO
NOT OVERFILL.

1. CLEAN FOA M PR E·CLEANE R.
a. Unscrew Knob (Fig. 21) to remove Cover.
b. Remove Nut and Washer to remove Cartridge Plate,
Paper Cartridge and O il Fo am Pre -C l eaner.
c. Wash Foam Pre· Ci ea ner in detergent and water.
d. Rinse, squeeze (rather than tw i st) and allow to dry
t horoughly.
e. Coat with three tablespoons of S.A.E. 30 Engine O il ,
squeeze to distribute evenly, and squeeze out excess.
f.
Check Paper Cartridge. Repl ace if excessively dirty.
g. Reassemble Paper Cartridge and re- position on Tracto r.
NOTE: NEVER RUN ENGINE WITH AIR CLEANER RE·
MOVED.
2. CLEAN AIR SCREE N
Air Screen (Fig. 22) must a ll ow fr ee-flow of air to prevent

damage from overheating. C le an with a wire brush,
compressed air or water pressure to remove dirt, chaff,
stubborn dri ed gum and fibers.
3. CHANG E ENGINE OIL
The best time to change Engine Oil is at the end of a days
operation when all dirt and foreign material is suspended
in the hot Oil. Refer to page 7.
4 . CLEAN FRONT G RILL SCREEN
The Front Grill Screen (Fig. 2) must allow free flow of ai r
to prevent engine damage from ove r heating .
a. Remove
Grill Screen by removing two screws.
b. Clean with a wire brush, compressed air or water pres-
sure to remove dirt, chaff, stubborn dried gum anc
fibers.
c. Replace
Gri ll Screen and secure screws.
5. LUBRICATE STEERING AND FRONT WHEEL S
There are seven Grease Fittings on your Tractor (Fi g's. 20
and 24 ). Using a Grease Gu n, give each Grease Fitting two
shots of Extreme Pressure Lubricating Grease Amdex No. 1
or equivalent (available through your Sears Servi ce Center).
