Function Description:
The Craftsman 900 Series Rear Tine Tiller is designed for tilling and cultivating soil. Its primary function is to dig into, turn over, and break up packed soil before planting, as well as to clear unwanted vegetation. The counter-rotating tines are a key feature, designed to provide efficient soil preparation. The tiller can also be used for cultivating, which involves destroying weeds between rows and breaking up the upper layer of soil crust to retain moisture. The depth stake allows for versatile tilling and cultivating depths, or for easier transport. The unit is equipped with an internal combustion engine, and for safety, it should not be used on or near unimproved forest-covered, brush-covered, or grass-covered land unless the engine's exhaust system has a spark arrester.

- Transmission: Lubricate the right-hand side gear case grease fitting with 1 oz. of EP #1 Grease once a season.
- Cleaning: Clean the tiller when the engine and transmission are cool. Avoid pressurized water on engine and transmission gasket areas.
- Tire Care: Maintain 20 PSI tire pressure. Keep tires free of gasoline or oil.
- Tine Replacement: Check tines for sharpness, wear, and bending. Replace if the gap between tines exceeds 3-1/2 inches. New tines should be assembled with sharpened edges rotating rearward.
- Ground Drive Belt Adjustment: Adjust belt tension by loosening the cable clip screw and sliding the cable until the extension spring has about 5/8 inch stretch when the drive control bar is engaged.
