How to Test the Exit System
1. Press
ON
on the Tester. A steady green power (“PWR”) light should display;
NOTE: A blinking green power (PWR) light indicates a
low battery. Replace the Tester battery before proceeding.
2. Enter the currently programmed security code (
*23456 default) on the Tester keypad
3. Press and hold
DOOR
.
4. Approach the exit under test. When in range of the door receiver, the red lock LED (top right LED) on the Exit
Panel turns on, the door should lock if so equipped, and the exit system should arm.
5. Release the Door button and the exit system should un-arm.
6. With the door in the open position, press and hold the Door button, the Exit Panel should enter an alarm state. The
top center red LED (bell symbol) on the panel will flash and an on/off tone will be emitted.
7. Close the door and reset the Exit Panel.
NOTE: The Tester is not to be used to test range or to adjust the range of
the door exit system. The tester is only used to test the function of the exit
system.
How to Test the Cutband Zone Receivers
Be sure to alert all Nursing and Security staff prior to testing the Cutband Zone Receivers. When the Cutband Zone
Receiver is tested, all exit systems will enter an armed state, locking all doors equipped with electromagnetic locks.
1. Press
ON
on the Tester. A steady green power (“PWR”) light should display;
NOTE: A blinking green power (PWR) light indicates a low battery. Replace
the Tester battery before proceeding.
2. Go to the cutband zone under test.
3. Enter the currently programmed security code (
*23456 default) on the Tester keypad
4. Press
CUT
BAND
.
5. Within a few seconds, all exit systems should enter the armed state, locking all doors equipped with
electromagnetic locks.
6. The Nurse Station should enter an alarm state with an audible alarm and the “cutband in alarm” will flash and turn
red on the display.
7. Document which cutband zones have received the cutband test.
8. Go to other areas of the protected area and repeat the above test. Continue testing in various areas until all cutband
zones have been tested and displayed on the Nurse Station.
NOTE: The above tests are designed to simulate the actual operating characteristics of the
system. Testing should be done on a weekly basis using a live transmitter to verify the
actual operation of the exit systems and cutband zones. Forms are included at the end of
this Section to document test results.
NOTE: The Tester is not to be used to test range or to adjust the range of
the cutbands. The tester is only used to test the function of the cutbands.
