Overview

This document describes the SENCOR SBP 6800WH Digital Blood Pressure Monitor, a device designed for non-invasive blood pressure measurement and monitoring in adults within a domestic environment.

Function Description

The SENCOR SBP 6800WH measures systolic and diastolic blood pressure, as well as pulse rate. It also features detection of cardiac arrhythmia. The device operates by automatically inflating and releasing air from a cuff placed on the upper arm. Measurement results, including date and time, are stored in memory. The device is intended for self-monitoring and should not be used for self-diagnosis or to alter prescribed medical treatment without consulting a doctor.

  • Software Version: A04.

Usage Features

  • Cuff Application: The adjustable length cuff is designed for arm circumferences from 22-42 cm. It should be attached 2-3 cm above the elbow cavity, ensuring the air hose is above the brachial artery. The cuff should be neither too loose nor too tight, allowing one finger to fit comfortably underneath.
  • Measurement Procedure: To start a measurement, press the START/STOP button (A5). The device will automatically pressurize the cuff while detecting the pulse rate, indicated by a flashing symbol on the LCD display (A6). After pressure release, systolic (SYS) and diastolic (DIA) pressure and pulse frequency are automatically determined and displayed. The device turns off automatically within 1 minute of the last measurement if not manually turned off.
  • Cardiac Arrhythmia Detection: The device can detect cardiac arrhythmia, indicated by a symbol on the display. If this symbol appears, it is recommended to consult a medical doctor.
  • Memory Function: The monitor stores up to 60 measurement results, including date and time. To view stored values, press the M button (A4) when the device is off. The average of the last three measurements is shown first, followed by individual stored values with their corresponding date and time.
  • Date and Time Setting: Before first use, it is crucial to set the date and time (24-hour format) to ensure accurate recording of measurement data. This is done by holding down the START/STOP button (A5) when the device is off, then using the M button (A4) to adjust values and START/STOP (A5) to confirm.
  • Battery Replacement: The device uses 4x AAA alkaline batteries. Batteries need replacement when the display shows the battery symbol, the display is dim, or the device does not turn on. Ensure correct polarity when inserting new batteries.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Not suitable for infants, pregnant women, patients with implanted electronic devices, pre-eclampsia, heart arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, peripheral artery disease, or those undergoing intravascular treatment or after a mastectomy. Always consult a medical doctor if you have any of these conditions.
    • Not for use on children without medical doctor consultation.
    • Do not bend the connecting tube during use to prevent serious injury.
    • Avoid attaching the cuff over injuries or on an arm where another medical monitoring device is applied.
    • Do not use in the vicinity of flammable mixtures of anaesthetics and air or flammable mixtures of anaesthetics and oxygen or nitrogen oxide.
    • Do not expose the device to strong electromagnetic fields or fast electric transition/burst signals to prevent erroneous measurements.
    • If the cuff inflates after measurement completion, immediately release it to prevent bruising.
    • If feeling unwell during measurement (e.g., pain in the upper arm), press START/STOP to immediately release air from the cuff.
    • The cuff will automatically release air if pressure reaches 40 kPa (300 mmHg). If not, manually stop air feeding by pressing START/STOP.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning: Keep the device clean by wiping off dust with a lightly damp cloth. Do not wash the device or cuff under running water or submerge them. Avoid abrasive cleaning products or petrol.
  • Storage: When not in use for an extended period, remove the batteries. Store the device in a clean, dry place, out of reach of children, and protected from impacts, falls, direct sunlight, or extreme temperature changes.
  • Calibration: It is recommended to have the device calibrated every two years to ensure accurate measurement results. All calibration costs are borne by the customer.
  • Service and Repair: The device does not require calibration within two years of reliable operation. In case of problems with settings, maintenance, or use, contact an AUTHORISED SERVICE CENTRE. Do not attempt to remove the cover or repair the device yourself. Repairs must be performed by qualified personnel at an authorized service centre.
  • Cuff Lifetime: The cuff's lifetime depends on the number of washes, skin condition, and storage conditions, with a standard lifetime of approximately 10,000 fittings. Do not wash the cuff in a washing machine or dishwasher.
  • Disposal: Dispose of used packaging material, batteries, and the electrical and electronic equipment according to local recycling codes. Batteries contain environmentally damaging compounds and should not be disposed of with household waste.
