Overview

This document describes the Sencor SKS 7300 kitchen scale, an appliance designed for household use to weigh food and other items. It emphasizes important safety instructions, proper usage, and maintenance guidelines to ensure accurate performance and longevity.

The scale features a weighing and measuring platform (A1) where items are placed. It includes a display (A3) that shows the weight and other relevant information. Control is managed through two buttons: the MODE / HOLD button (A2) and the ON/OFF / TARE button (A4). The MODE / HOLD button allows users to toggle between different units of measurement (grams, kilograms, ounces, pounds:ounces) and to activate or deactivate the HOLD function. The ON/OFF / TARE button serves to turn the scale on and off, and to zero out values during the gradual weighing of ingredients, a feature commonly known as the tare function. The scale is powered by four 1.5V type AA alkaline batteries, which are inserted into a battery compartment located on the underside of the scale.

Before using the appliance, it is crucial to read the user's manual thoroughly. The scale is intended for household use only and should not be used for commercial purposes, for weighing animals, or for any other unintended applications. It can be used by children and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental abilities, or with insufficient experience and knowledge, provided they are properly supervised. Children must be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.

For accurate weighing, the scale must be placed on an even, smooth, hard, and stable surface, ensuring all four feet are firmly on the surface. Using it on unstable surfaces, electric or gas cooktops, near open flames, or other heat sources is prohibited. The appliance should not be exposed to direct sunlight, high humidity, or excessively dusty environments. Exceeding the maximum weighing capacity can damage the appliance, so any excessively heavy items should be removed from the platform immediately. When not in use, the scale should not be used as a storage place for other items.

To turn the scale on, a short press of the ON/OFF / TARE button (A4) will display "HELLO" temporarily, followed by "0". Ingredients can then be placed on the platform, and their weight will appear on the display (A3). To turn the scale off, the ON/OFF / TARE button (A4) should be held down for approximately 2 seconds. The scale also features an automatic shut-off function, turning off after approximately 60 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life.

The unit selection feature allows users to switch between metric and imperial units. Repeatedly pressing the MODE / HOLD button (A2) cycles through the units in the order of g - kg - oz - lb:oz.

The TARE function is essential for weighing multiple ingredients in the same container or for excluding the weight of a container. To use this function, place the container on the scale and wait for its weight to be displayed. Then, press the ON/OFF / TARE button (A4) to set the display to zero. Additional ingredients can then be added, and only their weight will be shown. If the container is removed, the display will show a negative value; pressing the ON/OFF / TARE button (A4) again will reset the display to "0".

The HOLD function is useful for retaining the displayed weight, especially if the ingredients obscure the display during weighing. To activate it, hold down the MODE / HOLD button (A2) for approximately 2 seconds until a "A" symbol appears on the display. When an item is placed on the scale, its weight will be displayed, and the appliance will beep. This weight will remain on the display until further weighing is performed with an item weighing more than 5g. To deactivate the HOLD function, hold down the MODE / HOLD button (A2) for approximately 2 seconds, and the "A" symbol will disappear.

Battery management is critical. Only new batteries of the same type should be used, and mixing used and new batteries or different types of batteries is not allowed. Batteries should never be put in a fire, short-circuited, or damaged. They must be disposed of ecologically at the end of their lifetime, not with communal waste. If the appliance will not be used for an extended period, the batteries should be removed to prevent leakage and potential damage to the internal components. Rechargeable batteries are not suitable for this appliance. Batteries should be kept out of children's reach, as they pose a hazard if swallowed; immediate medical help should be sought if a child swallows a battery. The display will show "Lo" when the batteries are flat, indicating they need to be replaced. The replacement process involves removing the battery compartment cover, inserting new batteries with correct polarity, and replacing the cover. If the display shows "EEEE", it means the maximum weighing capacity has been exceeded, and ingredients should be removed to prevent damage.

For cleaning and maintenance, the scale should be wiped with a soft sponge lightly dampened in warm water, then dried with a clean cloth. Abrasive cleaning products, steel wool, or solvents should not be used, as they can damage the surface. The scale must never be submerged in water or any other liquid, nor rinsed under running water. Users should not attempt to repair or adjust the appliance themselves; all repairs must be performed by an authorized service center to avoid voiding the warranty.

Regarding disposal, used packaging materials should be disposed of at designated waste sites. Used batteries contain environmentally damaging compounds and must be handed over for proper disposal at designated collection points, not with standard communal waste. Used electrical and electronic equipment should not be disposed of with ordinary municipal waste. Instead, it should be taken to determined collection points for proper disposal, renewal, and recycling. In some European Union states, appliances can be returned to the local retailer when purchasing a new, equivalent appliance. Proper disposal helps conserve natural resources and prevents negative environmental and health effects.
