©2020 Sentinel Gaming Systems 10 Quick Setup/Operations Guide – Sentinel Mini 4.xx
Important Operating Information – PLEASE READ
The Sentinel Gaming System comprises two separate systems that work together. The first is
the “Sentinel” system that runs continuously (but draws very little power) when the computer
is plugged into wall power and the rear master power switch in the back is set to “1”. It controls
when and how the “Windows” system can operate. The Sentinel system has its own Login
Screens, error messages and communicates over the internet independently from the Windows
system. The front panel controls are used by the Sentinel system to provide features such as a
Status Screen and to authorize game play time extensions.
There are NO user serviceable parts inside the unit. Memory, internal disk drive upgrades or
repair service should be performed only by an authorized repair center.
The case or back cover cannot be opened without setting off internal sensors which will
render the motherboard inoperable until reset by a factory representative. This voids the
factory warranty and will require returning the system for Integrity Service (additional cost) to
restore warranty coverage. Please make sure users of this system understand this before
allowing their unsupervised use. Security screws discourage attempts to open the case.
Limit settings for up to 7 users of the Sentinel are configured remotely through an on-line
web site, the Web Configuration Portal, requiring access via an assigned ID and password.
An Internet connection to the Sentinel is required at all times the system is to be used.
NEVER unplug the Sentinel while Windows or the internal fans are operating. Be patient while
the system waits for Windows to shut down.
A monitor must be connected to the HDMI port on the rear panel and a USB keyboard must
be plugged into the assigned connection on the side panel.
The front panel power switch does not power ON the PC like other Windows based personal
computers except for User 1 and when User 1 password is “password”.
After a few minutes of inactivity at the Sentinel Login Screen, the display will blank, the
Keyboard powered off and the monitor will enter standby mode to conserve power. Press the
front panel “Power” button and the Sentinel™ login screen will re-appear.
The TightVNC server application is installed on Windows® and must be operational for Study
Mode and Screen Image features. Security options are set to automatically log off and disable
users that attempt to shut down or otherwise block this program from proper operation.
Study Mode operates in 1080p resolution. Press Windows key+ I to launch Settings to change.
The system will not allow Windows® to power up the system for updates. This must be
authorized by the user when the computer is powered.
Remove Chromecast® devices from the home. The Sentinel can broadcast Windows 10
applications to Chromecast® devices in No-Video and Study Mode bypassing their limits.
The account holder (owner) can easily access Windows® recover features or reset the system
to original factory settings using built-in recovery features.
Refer to the Sentinel Gaming Systems Mini Owner’s Guide available online within the Web
Configuration Portal. It is not intended for users of this system!
